Just about attainable back then - an S2 Lotus Europa, I've wanted one since I was six years old and fifty years later I had my first passenger ride in this one...
That is perfect.Lottery win first purchase if that was ever to happen.
The nearest I’ve been to owning one was my matchbox toy car model back in the ‘70s.Sort of pink in colour I seem to remember.

My second choice - probably not everyone's cup of tea as far as Minis go, but when I first started getting into them the odd one or two S&A Minisprint would crop up in the classified in various states for just a few hundred quid, it's said S&A only did about fifty of them and no two were exactly alike...

When I was a 7 year old (1980) my Neighbours Daughters Boyfriend had one of these. To be honest back then I lusted after sporty Fiats, Fords and Lancia’s and the Tiger did nothing for me.
Put the clock on and I love the Tiger. They are worth a fortune and quite rightly so. Okay

Citroen Xsara VTS or a BMW E30 320iS
My wife had a dusty matte white xsara vts when we got together, her first car. It was a hoot to drive but my god it scared the pants off me a few times, her's was mk1 with no abs and so much chassis flex that you could see the rear window moving relative to the rearview mirror when cornering. Killed off by a head gasket failure/overheating/warped head.On a similar vein a saxo vts is top of my list, chassis has to flex less if its shorter no?

3 liter V6 Cortina mk 2
Savage... my brothers mate had one in the dreaded ‘silver fox’, complete with a Perspex bonnet.( Didn’t look so cool, due to the oil leak spraying it)
The owner picked up where Jeff Uren left off. It was a lovely piece of kit.
I'm surprised how long ago this was. It was the New Year's Day meeting at The Phoenix in Hartley Wintney in 2011.*
The pictures themselves tell us how technology moves on. I may not have had the most recent pocket camera but the details of the photo include 'Olympus Digital Camera' 'file size 407 kb' It's about a tenth the size of pictures on my current phone.
*The Phoenix in Hartley Wintney was the birthplace of the Vintage Sports Car Club.

It was auctioned recently I think. The purists would no doubt dislike the bonnet intake scoop and Minilites/Minilite replicas as I think the ‘proper’ rims were Dunlops?
I had the feeling he'd done a superb job on a limited budget. There had to be compromises. Just a feeling. Smashing bloke. Ready to talk and easy to talk to.Escort3500 said:

Wheels don't bother me, as they are 'of the period'..........but that bonnet scoop is horrifc.........but, again, I can remember many a genuine Savage back in the 70's that had been 'improved' at the hands of many a Custom Car mag reader, with Wolfies, jack-up kits, red painted axles with lights, draylon buttoned interiors, chain link steering wheels., etc.,etc.There was a MK.2 Savage stolen the other day from the Andover area, that was an original, but 'customised' with candy red paint, cream leather interior etc.,etc.

Fair play to the chap, and my comment wasn’t intended as a criticism. I just know how anal critics can get about mods to cars (I got criticised for putting a stainless steel exhaust system on my Zodiac!)
My fault. I didn't think you were criticising and should have phrased my response better.DickyC said:
