Takes all sorts I guess.

I've got one, my fourth. Brilliant car. Current one is an early V8 with estate conversion and I love it.

I've had XJ6 S1 and X300, picking up a X350 tomorrow. I've also had a Silver Shadow (dreadful thing to drive)

P6 compares very well.

Reckon you are spot on price-wise. Since 2020 only two have exceeded £30,000 at auction and that by only a tad
What car/s does that refer to?
XJ-Coupé. The problem I remember from the day was that, there being no B-pillar, the wind roar was very noticeable

I’d be surprised if it makes their estimate (which is pretty wide!)
True. Depends on the extent of the KWE 'enhancements', I guess. Manual gearbox conversion so could be quite different from standard.
What makes you think it’s a manual gearbox?

He is quite correct though in many ways.

The XJ6 was a very good car but a 3.0Si was faster, better on fuel with very good if slightly 'entertaining' handling in the wet and a nice ride. The detail finish was also much better. 'Scummy' they were not.
In truth, the original Ford Granada was closer to the Jaguar in terms of ride and handling than many would like to admit. The 3000 GXL was a remarkably good car for a lot less money.

I'm not sure about the driving position - it was a bit odd (sat quite high up and slightly askew) but never uncomfortable. Short on headroom and the XJS was much better with the lower seats.
Careful now, we'll have you in the kangeroo court dock too.

P.S, You missed Rover P6 3500 in your comparisons.
I test drove a manual Granada 3.0XL in 1979 before I bought a Rover P6B 3500S that I replaced with a MK2 Granada 2.8 Ghia in 1981. The Granadas handled really well, the Rover just wallowed about although the ride was pretty impressive.

Maybe I should have tried a Jaguar? I just wasn't brave enough!

Having now clicked on that link again, those pics look nice and the car does look impressive but there is rust on it so the ad says ...

Advert originally stated it as manual. No interior photos at that point to corroborate. Clear to see now though that it's an auto.
Doesn't look like KWe did much to it either so £30-40k estimate looks optimitic but it does look a nice example.

Well, I'd have to keep it in your garage and I've heard it's already full!

If that was an original manual overdrive (and forgetting the coupé modification) it is a rare car. From memory there were less than 300 built.

Unlike you have an eye for it, these fusions of new and old style rarely work in my view - Jags/Daimlers like this are one of the most difficult to bring off …

Manual 250V8s are very rare - I don’t think it’s got the original lump in anyway from memory so probably a whole engine/box change from the likely original auto.

Off topic, but they are making these at the circuit now. Well finished too.

I reckon those Daimler manuals are the Mk2 to have.

It looks like a Matra to me, a 571 I think.

Apologies for taking thread further off-topic, but what is that Citroën? You say 'making these', is that a recent creation? it looks a like some of the Chaprons but I don't recognise/ can't read the badging.

If you can find one. 20% premium or may be more, over the auto …

I have been casting my eyes over this leviathan and in that colour and at the asking price it may struggle . I also mark it down on the Leaper and the altered rear badging (why do they do it) ? I think this period of Ford Ownership of Jaguar will eventually be viewed as a bit of an Indian Summer with all the SUV tat that followed .
