Find Another........as they say
There seems to be a few on Autotrader.

But would you pay £18K for a 16-year-old Jag that needs new discs?

Manual 250V8s are very rare - I don’t think it’s got the original lump in anyway from memory so probably a whole engine/box change from the likely original auto.
I reckon those Daimler manuals are the Mk2 to have.

There won't be a few on Autotrader of this Model or colour and seldom are . The discs wouldn't worry me and the price likewise . This is where these cars are value wise though I suspect they would be open to slight negotiation .

I've owned two, absolutely love them.

That example is a lovely colour with sensible miles and a good history. Only two others for sale on Autotrader and neither as good.

What would you say was its historical equivalent , the Mk2 3.8 or perhaps there is none ?

Dunno.

It just looks like a Jaguar ought to. No mistaking it for anything else.

Take the badges off all the * Pace stuff they make, and it could be a Hyundai. Or a Honda. Or anything.

Same as that hideous lotus thing. It looks like a cheap copy of the BYD

Having owned both I've always thought of it as a modern version of the XJ12.

I would argue that the historic equivalent would be more likely to be the S-type. The MK2 was much smaller and less spacious.

I don't agree with this at all.

With the XJ they had a remarkable car, it was cramped, lacking headroom, far too long, crap boot, but...here's the thing, it was magnificent to drive, the ride was like a magic carpet and it handled well too.

From the end of the Series cars, progressively, through the XJ40, the X300, the X308 and into the X350 they ruined the ride, My S1 Daimler was lovely, grandparents XJ40 was lovely, the X300 I had was ok, just a tad too firm on its 16's. The X350 I've just bought is on 19's and air suspension and its really not ok, I'm searching out a set of 17"s for it.

To my mind, the one brilliant thing about the XJ was the ride and it got progressively worse!

So no, I don't agree that the X350 is a proper Jag at all.

I love my Rover P6, the ride is amazing, handling good too.

I loved my Silver Shadow, the ride was extraordinary, but the handling was wayward.

Off topic, but they are making these at the circuit now. Well finished too.

What is the orange car?
It looks like a Matra to me, a 571 I think.
It's a Jidé 1600 S Gordini, like this one:

Named after creator Jacques Durand's initials (JD: Ji - Dé in French) these were Renault 8-based sportscars introduced in 1969 and using many contemporary parts-bin items (Renault 8 tail lights, Matra 530 headlights, Renault Floride windscreen). They saw some success in local races and hillclimbs, drivers including a certain Jean Ragnotti.

I wouldn't have an XJR. A standard 3.0 V6 is fine and the air ride with standard wheels is outstanding.

So, the X350 is a proper Jag.

The most confortable car I have ever ridden in is a Citroen CX. Whenever I was a passenger, I'd be dozing off in five minutes.

Just watched this ... SOLD for £13,000 (plus fees). Way above their £8-10k guide ...

Lots not selling though - a lot of provisional only sales.

A Mk 2 much smaller and less spacious? I thought the S-Type just had a longer boot and independent rear suspension. Is is actually a much wider and bigger car?

Having had both a MK1 and an S-type I'd say the S-type was bigger, except it seems it wasn't. It just seemed it to me in the last century. Sorry folks
