Stunning Red and White Austin Healey 3000 in race spec, a Red and Yellow Lancia Stratos, single seater Lotus and something else. All heading north on the M1 tonight, I'm assuming there was a 750 Motor Club event on somewhere??

Some sort of classic rally going on in the country lanes around my area today, as driving through them for noly about 2 miles, i saw, among others,:

Aston Martin DB5 in race spec.
2 race spec origional AC Cobra's
A Humber Snipe
A 1924 Bentley 3.0 litre
Mercedes 190SL
Mercedes Pagoda
1966 Corvette Stingray convertible.
2 MGA's
A Porsche 356 Speedster.
An Austin Healey 3000
A Jaguar E-Type series 1 coupe.

They were all in beautiful condition, and the Aston DB5 was a proper racer, it was light blue and gorgeous!! It made my day seeing that lot. And hearing the Vette cloud9

ETA: Also drove past teh most tragic front garden I know of. In a small detached house in the country side, there is a man that has on his front lawn, languishing under his trees and left to rot,:

An oringional Torpedo style Tatra
A Works Sunbeam Tiger
A Sunbeam Alpine
An MGA
And a Rover P5B
An old caravan

It breaks my heart to drive past it.

decent weekend of spots for me as well. Several TR's, a Griffith 500, broken down TR7, an early 356 coupe cloud9 first thing today in Basildon & best of all a D-Type in Chelmsford - although assume a replica.

The reason for so many classic cars out on the roads yesterday was this event :

www.msaclassic.co.uk

We set off from York at 8.30 yesterday morning and arrived at Silverstone for 2 laps of the circuit at 5.15pm. Route took us via Clumber Park, Donnington GP Collection and Gaydon.

Other starting points were Bath, Epsom, Norwich and Silverstone.
At the finish there were nearly 700 classics.

We were amongst many others who headed back up the M1 last night

Fantastic day.

On the wya home from school, on the bus in the rain, there was only one thing to brighten the afternoon. And brighten it did, as it was an immaculate looking bright yellow Dolomite Sprint. Great cars, I really want one now.

Did he have the roof off?

I passed one on Cambridge St last week.

Can't match that countach today, although did see a Subaru SVX - not sure counts as a "hero" but can't remember ever seeing one on the road when new.

Ah!! That explains why I saw so many classics around Donington! It was the Alfa Romeo Owners Club trackday there on Sunday. Hope you had as good a time as we did!

Sunday - saw a pair of '20's or 30's Rolls Royce's near Hanningfield Reservoir, Essex - assume that there was a meet on. Also various interesting bits & pieces over the weekend including a Rover SD1 lick

Saddest though, stationary black '67 or '68 'Stang at the side of London bound A127 just past wickford junction on way home today. Hope they got it home.
