P5B Coupe OOF247G, Woof the Rover. You were already semi-borked when Dad bought you in 1977, but that didn't matter one iota. I drew endless pictures of you as a four year-old kid, with me standing and waving from the full-length Webasto... and one day I'm going to find me a keeper that was just like you, you beautiful, woofly old dame.

I few years ago I chanced upon a two-door coupe that had been extremely sympathetically converted. Doors extended, B posts moved back, it was achingly gorgeous - the car Rover should have built, but probably weren't allowed to thanks to BL politics. Would've outsold the XJS by miles.

I've tried looking for the pics, but can't find them, I'll post if I do.
Google Rover P5B coupe 2-door. Loads of pics of P5s, including 2-doors, and other interesting links there.

Edit -

There's also a very interesting 3 minutes of Youtube. Can't post a direct link but it's called "Rover P5B 3500 V8 rally car". smile

If only I could extend my budget I'd be all over that like a rash! That Zircon Blue colour always looks miles better in the flesh, it's so nice. I was looking at getting a '60s Jag, but having made the fatal mistake of digging out all the photos I took of my old Coupe PGU 726L (hundreds of 'em!), I'm turning towards P5Bs again. The door bottoms were starting to go and it needed new door and windscreen seals all round amongst many other things, but my 'eck it was sooooooo nice to drive...

Thought I'd pop a few pictures up of my Uncle's lovely coupe, which he has owned since 1975 and done over 100,000 miles in!

Cool Rover. The pic even captures the late great John Peel in action at his additional week-end employment. smile

Gorgeous motor car... I've seen several pics of it online at various shows and it never fails to hit the spot, Silver Birch suits the car so well.

The lines of the Coupe are just bang on, especially with a V8 on Rostyles - I love the combination of the big, bluff, brutish front end, the low roofline and thin window pillars, and the way the roofline curves downward over the rear wheel arches.... be still my beating heart... ;o)

That's a stunning looking Rover. Do you know where the first pic was taken?

The car nearest the camera belongs to the P5OC Scretary, the ome alongside I have accompanied on some Drive it Day runs. I'm not sure about the third.

Have a look here for some P5 Porn: http://roverp5.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=disp...

P5njj - I see you ahve posted on the OC forum - You must be quite local to me if you're in the Rugby area? I live in Market Harborogh.

Cheers - yes I'm in Rugby... do you currently have a P5? I'm actively looking for a P5B Coupe at the moment!

For quite a while I had problems logging into the P5 forum but it's sorted now, I'm keeping an eye on it in case something turns up ;-)

Yes, I am the East Mids P5 Club rep. If you want to come over and have a poke around my car you are welcome. Subframe, Engine and gearbox are out at the moment so you can get to see bits you might not otherwise see.

If you drop me a PM we can arrange something. Also let me now more details of what you want (pristine or project and budget) and I'll ask around and keep my ears open for a car for you.

Meanwhile a petty engine bay:

averaging nearly 2,800 miles a year will make most P5 owners feel very faint biggrin
