Fairly sure that's down the side of Stuttgart's main train station.

Yes it is. When I was there in 2005 the W124 taxis were still there too.

Hi RESSE
That's a wonderful photo. Could I have your permission to add it to the photographic database of UK registered Mk1 Sprites which I compile?

Do you know what became of the car?

Hi Phil,
Good to see you here. Lordy I've seen smaller steering wheels on trucks!
Are those Jensen Healey wheels or Dunlops?

Hi Gary
The wheels are Cosmic Mk 1's - and they are still on the car! But I did fit a smaller steering wheel when wood rims were deemed unsafe for motorsport. But that must have been after this picture taken at Santa Pod in 1973

Gary, yes of course you can use the photo.

I am not sure what happened to Dad's car, but I think after he married my mum in 1964 he sold it and bought a Mini Cooper.

There were three Frogeyes in Dad's 'team' (Wild Goose) which operated from Don Balm's garage in Dursley (Gloucestershire). I have a photo of the three cars in the paddock from (I think) Silverstone in 1962 (will try and locate the photo).

Gary, I'm surprised you missed Flying Phil’s V8 Frogeye dragster changing through the years – more photos in the Modified classics thread

Many thanks for heads-up ne.
However I've already published an article about Phillip's Drag racing exploits (and cars) in the Midget & Sprite Club's magazine "Mascot"
More images of Frogeyes always grately received for the database.

I should have guessed

I missed it on the strip and in the mag as they weren't the times I used to go to Santa Pod or was a member of the Northants branch of MASC (wonder if that's in the MASC archives)

Not found the Silverstone photo (yet), but have three poor quality photos of Frogeyes from the 1995 Norwich Union Classic Tour and 1 good photo from circa. 1990:

You have revived a name from the past..Wildgoose Garages at Dursley, Glos.! In 1972/4 I worked in Dursley and used to pass there every night and morning before parking up behind May Lane Motors in the local car park. Wildgoose were one of the earliest BMW dealers and I used to dream of calling in to choose a new BMW 2002 but sadly the wages of a poor old Bank clerk were far from enough to do more than dream! Do you recall the local Doctor's wife had a new 2002 in dark grey which at the time seemed so desirable. Can you also remember the stir caused in 1974 when a local publican bought a brand new Lotus Elite 501 in white? It was quite famous in such a small town. Meanwhile I "made do" with my Nov'72 Ford Capri 1600XL in Daytona yellow with black vinyl roof..dear old KHU 900L..a car I really liked.driving

Many thanks RESSE,
My tired old eyes can't make out the registration numbers. Can you tell from your images?
