Love this one.....with the really old style petrol station with the old pumps right at the side of the road, and Rover man has to reverse his car into side of road through the road works to fill up from the pump hose hanging across the footpath.....oh how our everyday lives have changed so dramatically in the past 60 years...laugh

No but then we weren't so stupid as to drive into a ditch if there wasn't an armco barrier in place.

This early 1960's HP Sauce delivery van has always intrigued me, that side door looks almost useless?

Wonderful images....

and, being myself both ex-Birmingham AND working for a lifetime in the ''road repair'' industry - doubly most interesting...

yes lovely. Sorry for the thread creep, but this still makes me laugh. And it involves barriers, digging a road etc

It possibly fits the height of the loading bay at the factory.

Presumably a random still from the set of 'Grand Prix', as the young lady is the actress who plays the girlfriend of the reckless italian.

The ever so lovely, Francoise Hardy who played Lisa in the film. I leave you to chose your favourite pic https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=fran%C3%A7oise+h...

So, apart from the cars, the buildings and the street lights, it was pretty accurate! Comparing it to the actual view today it's interesting that the buildings are probably not futuristic enough and this would have been the main thrust of the picture.

I do love old artists' impressions of the future. This picture is a great find, particularly as it is based on the view from a specific spot - well done!

This picture was described as :"Hinckley petrol station having delivery in fuel shortage. Police in attendance." It does make me laugh. Look at the spoiler on the Herald?:
