"I thought the nose wasn't round enough for an Apache and not pointy enough for a Comanche. Perhaps the softer fin shape is the decider"

I was going on the engine nacelles and the rounded fin.

Hillman Husky right in the middle.
The 'Farina' behind it is possibly a Riley 4/68.

More likely a Wolsey ... Rileys had cut back tail lights IIRC

That's a 4/72; I thought the 4/68 had bigger fins, but you're right - looks like a Wolseley 15/60.

Growing up in London in the mid to late 70's there was many waste land & bomb sites that looked just like this usually surrounded by corrugated iron with dumped Anglia's Cortina's Morris Oxfords etc wink these pics take me back thank you bow

I thought the Riley 4/68 and Wolseley 15/60 had the earlier shell with the more pronounced rear fins, being replaced by the Riley 4/72 and Wolseley 16/60 respectively with the more restrained styling ?

Couple of rare items in those pics, especially the Ford Taunus - which was a rare sight in the UK.
I spy a F-Type Victor as well in the 1st pic.

Sights that that were all too common on old bomb sites and waste ground in most towns back in the day..........he says feeling a little old frown
yes . .and the piles of stuff .... the oily puddles... smile...... .there will probably be an evil dog somewhere too...

In the second picture, I like the way the proprietor has taken the tin snips to the back of his Thames van to convert it into the handy pick-up version...

That's what I thought; but it seems it was only the Wolseley (and Austin and Morris) that had the big fins on the early (1500cc) cars.

Nobody as yet has tried to hazard a guess at the Yank tank between the Herald and BMC Farina. I thought at first Mercury Comet but the wraparound rear screen is wrong. Anyone?

:

laugh I was looking at it all wrong - I thought it had fins at the back but in fact I was looking at the Herald's front wing! Optical illusion in my book, senility in the books of others.........
