Another pic from a house clearance so no idea who, when or where? Love the Mk3 Cortina in the background with its filler, primer, odd door and GT wheels! Quite late for mk3 on an R, Looks like an 87 tax disc on the Saab so the Sierra behind must have been reasonably new even though someones had its wheel trims away! Mk4 Cortina lurking on the right..

About 1994.... the day I sold it

Bought in 1989 with 12K on the clock. Sold with 160K. Many great places and memories of this car.

The only real work was to replace the valve stem oil seals and relap valves.

Saw it a few years later in a car park.

Wish I hadn't. Absolutely trashed. cry

Looks like George Smiley in the front passenger seat! Great find.

Someone else posting Mk1 XR2 pictures reminded me of this!
Mid 90s again, bought to bomb around in for a few weeks before selling on, it had the pre facelift Mk2 XR2 Seats fitted along with mk2 kit held on with self tappers!
Didn't live for too much longer after I sold it..

All nice, £650 back in 97, I remember a couple of years before, a black RS2000 mk2 project was for sale on the roadside for £500, my mates all thought it was rubbish and that I was mad to even think about it!
Didn’t buy it in the end, that and a few other cars since!

What caught my eye was your dads Orion, because my dad had an Orion Ghia with almost the same number plate; C265 BHX.
I passed my test in September 94 and can remember the old man going out to work one day and leaving about £30 and a note saying 'take Orion down the tyre shop and get two part worns fitted, straight there and straight back', I went straight out for a blast and finished off the existing tyres! He flipped when he got home as he'd read the mileage and id done 65 miles on what shoud have been a 2 mile round trip!

I'd be disappointed if someone here can't date it from the machinery as well!

Some nice pictures here, again from house clearance so I don't know the people! The trials bikes look like proper home conversions, possibly from ex military? Might need some help on the bikes too, first Triumph Tiger 80 with the girders?
Matchless G3 with tank held on with bungees and the last two Velocette MSS?

This is BR's InterCity livery, grey over beige and in may people's opinion the best livery they used. It was used on coaches like this from '85 and as this one looks pretty grubby it's probably late '80s.

A handful of what we now call SUVs (probably the property of country folk) and no MPVs that I can see. How things have changed.

Dad always took a camera when out working and would often snap pictures of random old Fords as ive always been into them..
Tidy Mk1 Capri for its age, taken in Thanet early 90s.

Nice RS2000 in rare midnight blue, he seems to think he took that one down Southampton way mid 90s. Shame about the sunroof, was that an aftermarket one or did someone lift it straight out of a Peugeot 205?!!

Yes the home made trials bike is an ex-WD 1945/6 era Matchless G3L.........(the clue is clear for all to see wink)

The stripey 'Inter-City' livery on the BR Mk1 coach suggests late '80s / early '90s wink

Apologies - missed Rich B's post replying about the livery.... the lighting tower beyond the bridge suggests a marshalling yard or carriage sidings somewhere, the bridge doesn't match any locations I work to / from so might be up north somewhere, possibly Tyne Yard or Healey Mills maybe.

I think you are right - that looks like the bridge over the south end.

Lovely! My father had a GLi of a similar vintage (V reg) back in the late 80's in a lovely dark metallic grey. You seem to have the front spoiler from the Storm on yours.

The base model ("Saloon") was absolutely pov spec with manual everything and a grey grill. It had bare steel wheels without the space age flat grey wheel trims of the fancy models. Maybe that's what's lurking in the background...
