I used to live not far from there - drove past the site quite often!

Enjoying your pictures - thanks for posting them.

Queuing for Dartford Tunnel a few days before the bridge had opened on route to Derby to visit Grandparents.

Coming back a few days later on the day the bridge opened, October 91, pictures taken from passenger seat of Mk1 Fiesta!

Matchless 500 twin, a G9 I think? Taken at a show in the early 80s, don't know much about scooters so if anyone can identify the Lambretta?? Looks like a Triumph 3TA with bathtubs all being closely guarded by some nutter with a sledge hammer! Don't know the story behind that..

A well used BSA B31, again from the early 80s. Probably worth about £500 in that condition at the time.. Behind the kids you can just see the neighbours Suzuki FZ50 and in the other corner the wheel from the other neighbours Granada Ghia, in that light metallic green iirc.

A nice ex WD Matchless G3l taken in the mid 80s, Dads Renault 4 F6 van sticking its nose in! Next doors Escort 5 door Ghia in brown also in shot!

Yes the home made trials bike is an ex-WD 1945/6 era Matchless G3L.........(the clue is clear for all to see wink)
The first bike has what looks like a Raleigh logo on the tank, the machine being admired by the woman is an OHC Velocette ,KSS possibly.

Nice looking Triumph that Dad was using at the time, think it was a Dayton. Picture approx. late 80s as the D plate Fiesta looks immaculate, brown Escort trying to get in picture too!

The neighbours Escort on their wedding day, decorated by another neighbour!

First rule of fixing old British motorbikes....

If in doubt hit it with a hammer.....and if that doesn't work, use a bigger hammer biggrin

Been round my parents today and they've been digging out old photos so I will be putting some more up over the next few days..
Start off with these of dads mates TR4 taken around 1966.

Obviously the sign will help but does anyone recognise the location?

Did a quick DVLA check and was amazed to see that it was MOT'd up until a few years ago, so does anyone know the car??

Banger racing at Coombe Valley in the early 80s, nice Audi parked on far left of second picture! Is no 48 a Renault 6?

Renault 16, I think.
Kniveton is in Derbyshire (not far from Ashbourne) - had to check that, though....

One from the upmarket side of the family, taken early 70s. Mums aunt was married to someone in the music business and looks like he was doing ok! I seem to remember being told he'd bought it from Harry Secombe..
John died in the late 70s and the Rolls apparently sat in the garage for a few years before being given away to the gardener! Don't know whether that's true or not but always makes me chuckle!
I'm not too familiar with Rollers so does anyone know what model it was?

Although Dads main passion has always been British bikes, he also used to be into photography. Here's a few from around Whitstable harbour in the late 60s.

The Green Cortina, early80s, the first of our cars that I can actually remember!
It was an ex fleet car that Dad bought off the company he was with at the time, he liked it but it was a non starter in the damp. He apparently replaced everything on the ignition side from the plugs to the distributor but never solved it- after reading through the Marina thread he probably should have just pulled the choke out in the evenings! Mum had it sussed though-'shouldn't have bought a green car'..

Dads mates Norvin, nice machine that he still owns today.
The Escort was ours and that had replaced the green Cortina, the other Cortina was an early one and belonged to the parents of a neighbour across the street, it was his baby and was immaculate up until the late 80s when he packed up driving.

Dads only ever brand new vehicle, a 750 Bonneville on a C plate. Not a straight purchase though, he knew the dealer so chopped in a couple of classics to soften the deal! Never liked it much though- too new, too much money tied up in it, gears on wrong side etc..
Pale blue Escort was ours and had replaced the earlier dark blue one.
Trying to work out what the car above is, the wheel looks like Princess? Seem to remember the neighbour having one..
