^^ I'd say yes, an XJ-C. What about the yellow car a few to the left of it...? SD1 maybe..?

Regent Street 1975...

Hillside Gardens, Highgate late '60s...

Were the prisoners on display en route to the Nick in that black Mariah or was it an early Popemobile?

Not a prisoner van, its an early Mobile Control Unit. It was park up at protests/demos etc and officers would stand up on a raised platform inside with their heads in the raised glass box on the roof giving a raised up 360 degree view over heads at ground level.

AH Sprite - wouldn’t the Midget have had a chrome trim up the centre of the bonnet?

We have a winner (just) !!!!!!!!
Close enough Jon smile

The Midget would also have a chrome strip down the side (nerd mode off).

MkIII? The MkII had sliding windiws and didn't have external door handles as per the Frogeye.

Spot on Dicky.

A MkIII Sprite (similar to the Midget MkII, they were always one "Mark" out because of the Frogeye)

Kids and no seat belts in the picture reminded me of my mum's Frogeye where if she took my brother and me out in it I sat facing the wrong way with my feet in the boot and my back to the backs of the seats.

Feet in the boot? No bootlid. You tipped the seats forward to access the boot space.

I'm pretty sure these are all in Liverpool, but I'm not exactly sure exactly where. I thought the first one was standing opposite Lime Street station and looking south, but maybe not. Late seventies, or possibly very early eighties.

Looks like they’re turning into the forecourt of the Adelphi Hotel, interesting collection of ColemanMilne Granadas there.

I'm going late 70's.

I can't see anything newer than the shiny Capri III in front of the Nat West in the middle pic which would place it late 1977 / 78 at the earliest. Nice contrast to the tatty Capri I at the bottom of the frame.

The big saloon in the middle of he junction in the first pic is a Fiat 132 I think.

The VW Derby in the first pic, waiting at the lights ahead of the Moggy is a rare beast - can't say I've seen one in years. It's the pre-facelift with the metal bumpers so again, late 70's.

well only Midgets had round rear wheel arches, but it was only the 71-74 ones (Sprites stopped in 1971 anyway, after 1974 the square arches were brought back, to go with the rubber bumpers for crash test reasons)
