I would go for 1980. The Leyland National in the first picture looks like it has a "W" registrationLove the E-Type photo; theres just something about the look of the old film photography especially from this period that just oozes charm and soul Take a modern photo using the latest 20 megapixel digital camera, using the same cars and background, and it just wouldnt the feel the same for me, something lacking soul and warmth despite all this pin sharp, hi res clarity. Nice to see an E in its natural environment doing the things it was meant for, which was to be used and driven, not like today where most are wrapped up in cotton wool, owners obsessed with keeping them in absolute immaculate nick, but never get used much.
I dont think it was that uncommon to see one in places like Bolton. My dad knew a couple of blokes in the Wigan area who owned E-Types (local business types who he used to know down at the pub). One of them used to park his red series 1 FHC in front of the labour club he was a regular member at, and very often he‘d leave the door unlocked. I know that because my dad once sat in it whilst the owner (who he was acquainted with btw) was inside. Would never happen today. Sadly one of the owners let his life go to ruin with booze, ending up pretty much penniless. No idea what happened to the E-Type.

I can't take my eyes off that E-Type photo, it's bloody mesmerising! It looks like a scene from the backlot of Pinewood or Elstree, I'm half expecting Roger Moore to whizz past in his white Volvo P1800 (of which there was a beautiful identical example at the NEC restoration show today, complete with Simon Templar red interior).
This is without a doubt the finest corner of PH, a haven of peace and warm fuzzy nostalgia, and worlds away from two complete strangers having a pissing contest in the abyss of NP&E

I went though an Imp phase in the mid eighties. Bought a bodily superb 1965 Imp Super with a buggered engine, and a rotten Imp Rallye (Singer iirc) with a pearl of an engine, the 998 with oil cooler, bigger CD Strombergs etc. Swapped the engine over as well as the other morsels - Kolis, Cosmic alloys and the bootlid with the cooling slots - I rubbed it down and sprayed it with 4 Duplicolor (Holts?) rattle cans and it T Cut up to a superb shine.
I liked it a lot and thought it was better than the Mini in many ways - handling was equal id completely different, the engine was much better and the general fit and finish much better.

View out of the window at Billinge maternity hospital in Wigan one day in April 1969.
Dad took this photo on the day I was born.
Thats a crackin photo. I think the folks over at WiganWorld would love to see that photo. Shame the place is no longer there, with more of the usual houses and flats currently being built for those who can afford them.Dad took this photo on the day I was born.

Hello again Pat!
8 years or so on I can post this pic up again.
Anyone not understanding, look at the car in background in first pic, then in bottom pic.
Note the registration!

They were used by many specialist car makers inc Lotus, Marcos, Morgan, Reliant etc, who raided parts bins of mainstream manufacturers in that period (1970s).
It was easy for them to do it and saved cash in a time when there was an oil crisis and raging inflation.
The marque in question even used them on the front of one of their other models.
Better angle to show them on same model
Still, I have to take into consideration that you don't like them, so only one thing to do...
EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE!

It's not the indicators per se just the way they're pointed skywards.
They're not pointing skywards ; I thought the same on first look at the photo.Because the bodywork is such a pale colour and the photo dulled by time, it plays an optical illusion.
When you look at it carefully, they point forward, as per all the other photos.
( anyway, it's those sculpted farings for the headlights that really draws the eye )
