My dad had one of those.

I have no photos, but I'm sad enough to remember the registration NRE 818P.

A few more old photos I've recently scanned:

A neighbour used to travel to Germany to buy his cars, when that had just started to be a 'thing'. I seem to recall his first was a Manta GSi, this was later. I don't recall the late Allegro on the next driveway.

A couple from Buxton, High Edge Raceway

And I've no idea why I took a photo of a LHD Volvo estate at a motorway service area

Remember when the parts dept looked like this?

...and the people behind the counter knew what the parts were without having to have the chassis number!

I'm glad you did! It looks immaculate - brand new perhaps.

Is there a 245 DL with the old big bumpers hiding behind it?

And here's the same car, as rediscovered in 2015.

How's the TVR resto going Pat?,. loved reading your account of when you drunkenly stumbled upon it on eBay one evening smile

Looks like it, with an ‘S’ pack mk5 Cortina further back.

I do like those old Italian small number plates, I bet that Volvo was quite a rarity in Italy if it was the petrol as they have a punitive tax on petrol cars over 2.0 litres and IIRC the Volvo was just over.

Spotted the extra driving lamps there. clap

Would the Italian 245 not have used the B19 or B20? Ours were 2.1 iirc.

Amazing cars these - I saw an G plate 740 on the M18 yesterday, humming along at 75/80.

I'd like a car that will last 30 years please

Certainly Sir

Great pics Pat. So good to see family photos, each with a car included for good measure

Cant remember ever seeing any Maestro with those wheels other than the MG, anyone know if they were an option for the VP or maybe someone trying to impress Mrs T??
