Since the 60's we the family catering business had a fleet of MINI Pickup's, When I passed my test in 1983 my first car was a pick up from stock before it was converted into a catering van, we must have had 20 at one time and I'd get a new MINI to drive for a while until it was ready for conversion.
Tut tut. Those will have been Minis, not MINIs. wink
laugh but so true...

Demonstrates how well BMW have subsumed the brand.
I was once corrected by someone on PH years ago now when I used 'Mini' with ref to the 60's icon, they said 'no,no,no' it's MINI'

banghead

Corner of Abbey Road and Grove End Road in St.John's Wood, 25th September '69, about seven weeks after the famous LP cover shot was taken... the Mini looks like a Mk2 to me and I think there's an early Mk1 Escort in the studio car park behind it...

The VW Beetle is still there.
But in the wrong place and facing the wrong direction for the album cover.

IIRC it was owned by a pair of Swedish tourists who'd bought it cheaps to potter round the UK. Then left it parked where it was in the album cover and gone off ... well, touring... and couldn't be found to move it on the day of the photoshoot, thus it appeared on the album. There were all sorts of conspiracy theories revolving around the numberplate relating to Paul being dead (linked in with his undertaker's suit and lack of shoes). Good to know gibberish mass hysteria theories comfortably pre-date t'internet

EDIT: some hastily-Googled "facts" appertaining; https://www.biography.com/news/beatles-abbey-road-...

how about this though, which is the 'no entry end' of Rue Lincoln, as in Lincoln's Bar, and it's just off Ave George V

looks like it, eh?

the doorway, near the bins in the modern one, matches the one above the Shadow's roof
Yes, I'd say that's it.
The problem is that, thanks to Haussman, in Paris nearly every junction could look like that.

A few years later spotted the same plate on a red F40, looking back would presume the Stratos is not a replica.

Were there Stratos replicas as early as 1983 ?

I don't think so.

Not relevant but interesting.

Hawk cars ,makers of one of the replicas does not use the name Stratos at all in the description of their car.

Lancia got a bit....judge...?

What's the car to the right of the Humber ? Looks a bit Alfa/Lancia-ish to me

The car on the left of the Humber could also be a 403 as well!

Is the 4th car in that row a Beetle nestled near the front of the hotel?

The late Charles Crighton-Stuart & my late wife Jan on the grid at Oulton Park prior to an F3 race in the late 60's.

Charles was driving one of Charles Lucas's cars IIRC

Yes, start/finish straight where they filmed the Italian Job.

Some more that I've found on various house clearances so I've no idea on locations or who the people are..

Guessing the Sunbeam to be 78ish so the Mini on far right must be at least 13 years old on a C when picture was taken..

Ambassador or Princess? Never can remember the differences!

Bet someone can identify the Model and year of the caravan?!

Still find it hard to believe that the Escort would be over 30 years old now, stretching the word classic but I always quite liked the Fiat Uno and genuinely cannot remember the last time I saw one..

I think this must have been taken no earlier than 82 as the blue Fiesta looks like a facelift with the bigger head rests and black bumpers. don't know where the Park Hotel is though, anyone recognize it?
