Is there any reason they constructed a small garden around it?

It's to give an insight as to how it will look after 5/10 years of ownership, broken down with grass growing through the rust on your front lawn.

It was a more civilised age. (They had more elegant weapons too.)

Just wondering what year this was taken - can anyone remember when the A40 went out of production...? All of the Minis there are Mk1s which ceased production in September '67, although many sat around in showrooms for over a year afterwards (good deals to be had after the Mk2s came in). Vdp was launched in '63 / '64 wasn't it..?

I'm more astonished that there's a new VDP Princess Limo in the showroom, given they were likely only built to order in very small numbers by the mid 60's...!!

It could easily be as late as '67, but I'd guess 65-66?

I don't know if that is definitely the case, was surmising that it's likely they were built to order, especially by then as can't see a dealer in Scotland taking a punt on ordering one for stock by that late in the cars lifespan.........??

Central London BMC dealer, maybe might, just take a chance?

I suppose, order one in black, and take a chance you could flog one to a funeral director at some point?

Way out - 1964. The VdP is a 3 Litre with the proper tail fins, replaced in '64 by the 4 Litre with the 1800 horizontal tail lights.

I wondered if that was a reference to the car in the centre right, behind the two men, rather than the Farina on the left. BMC stuff is not my strong point. Maybe it's a special event at the dealership rather than a standard display of new vehicles for sale.

Well, this is a new one on me........never knew about this, err.....thing!

Mind you a quick Google and it's perhaps not surprising that it was a total failure on just about every level....!

The caravan is a c1961/62 Bluebird Sun Parlour II which was one of their better models and above the very basic Peerless and early Challenger models. Bluebird caravans were always “value” models and built to a price. In period my parents and their friends had a number of caravans including Sprite Major from 1956, Pemberton Starlight, Paladin Trailavan, Willerby Home, Eccles and even a super rare “Three Towns” built in Torquay in 1962 of which I think only three were ever made. ????
9/10 for that. You Anorak! hehe

Let's see how good you are. What's this? No clues. biggrin

C'mon, end our misery!! My guess is a Willerby product.
