Behind the Mk 1 Capri is a brown estate, and behind that may be a Volvo 144 saloon? And on what's on the left between the white ADO16 and the black lorry - little brown hatch back looks like a mk 1 Honda Civic?

I'm guessing this picture is about 1971/72?Foreigners were still rare, pre common market they were held back by import tariffs, and we were still quite patriotic about buying British made goods.(plenty of them in that photo)
Same all over Europe at that time. The French drove French made cars, The Germans German built cars, the Italians etc..
I used to be fascinated as a kid when we crossed borders, the cars would change, the road rules, the French with their yellow headlamps, having to change your money over. Nowadays the only way to you notice the difference is by the Graffiti and the amount of litter
Love this thread, nostalgia is a wonderful thing

Maybe a year or so later.......73-ish would be my guess.
That was my thought too, but didn't want to sound pedantic over a year. The yellow Vauxhall Magnum, and the few Mk3 Cortinas are what made me think it was after '72.
Edited to say, then I have doubts because those Chrysler 180s were made as long ago as 1970!

The Honda Civic was launched in the UK in July '72 so given the overcoats, this is autumn '72 or later (or maybe you wear an overcoat in Glasgow in July....?).

I'd put that as a Viva rather than a Magnum - Magnums all had a side moulding (stainless with a black centre) and that doesn't seem to have it. Might just not show up on the photo, though.Blue car behind the Opel Manta on the right, is that a Datsun of some type?

The wheels made me think Magnum rather than Viva, but I'm no expert at all.Blue car behind the Opel Manta on the right, is that a Datsun of some type?

Looks very big for a Datsun of that age, thinking more Toyota Crown Coupe.
