How about a 'period' classics pictures thread

I don't think it is - only seven were built, not by the factory but by John Cooper Garages and they had Radford style doors with quarterlights and electric windows, Benelite grilles with integral spotlamps plus lots of extra chrome, full Radford wooden dashboard and leather interior etc, at least one of them had rectangular Cibie headlamps as well (this one survives and does the shows most years).
Some more period Americana...
Those Pontiacs really are an art form. Some more period Americana...

P5BNij your pics especially the last few pages are really good, any particular source? I love seeing period snapshots where the car is still an important part of the family.
A lot of them come via my pinterest feed, they just keep popping up and I save the ones which catch my eye, each image I click on leads to dozens more of the same ilk and so on. I'm also posting old car ads from the same source over in General Gassing, lots of very evocative '60s and '70s stuff in typically American graphic style, I can't stop looking at them at the moment, I'm going through a bit of a yank / muscle car phase for some reason! The images themselves just put me in mind of large open spaces, sunshine, carefree times and woofling V8s... More of the same...
Cape Kennedy, 10th July 1969, Buzz Aldrin arrives early for the Apollo 11 mission in his Corvette... why didn't this generation of 'vettes have a proper opening boot / trunk...?
Sunset Boulevard in the '50s...
Special Mustang promotion...
This looks like one of the limited run 'Pacesetter' Mustangs from '64...
Bobby Kennedy stopping off for some tucker on the campaign trail in 1960...

Given people of his age were getting drafted for a tour of duty Vietnam at the time, the BB Camaro was probably safer option.
Yeh your right there Its easy to get carried away with these 60's muscle cars and times images (my fav) but that being called up situation was very real for those young men Mr Tidy said:
Lovely - for some reason I always wanted a 1965 Parisienne!
There's a rare RHD '67 for sale on ebay… https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1967-Pontiac-Parisienne...Don't really know much about them but I like the look of that... way too large for my garage though.

Keep the Americana coming!
I would be all over an old American Land Yacht if i could!
Sadly the garages here are made for midgets!
Considering how big the yank-mobile scene is here in the UK it makes me wonder how many of the cars here live on their owner's drive rather than being garaged...! I'm going to the big US show at Stoneleigh this weekend, time to do some 'investigating' I would be all over an old American Land Yacht if i could!

William Shatner with his 'vette...
Babs 'Genie' Eden in her '69 Mach 1...
'cisco in the late '60s...
