Or the timber boards nailed to the concrete posts as 'safety' barriers......(at least they are painted white )It little things like that which you saw everyday back then and never gave it a thought, but such things have now largely vanished from sight.

Love it! I'll see if I can dig out a picture of me at a similar age caressing my dad's new Beetle. Very similar aged me (I would have been about 4 as well) and Beetle (XWY 184L) although dad's was a bight red 1303 with the big taillights. Well if we're going back to the '70s, here's one that has long since dissapeared from the thread:
Nearly Christmas 1972, and my dad had just picked up his first car.
A 6 year old me in the driver's seat.taken in Valentine's Park, Ilford.
Also going through the TVR Vixen stuff recently as it was sold, found this from nearly 21 years ago:

Some excellent pictures coming onto the thread lately!

Didn't know about the Florence floods until I saw these photos, quite devastating with 100 or so lives lost.
Wonder what the British registered BSA Bantam was doing down there? Also, really hope that's a mannequins legs sticking out of the mud..

Duly bookmarked, what a cracking feast that lot is. A few of those images are quite familiar having been posted here already, but still a joy to see https://www.flickr.com/photos/trainsandstuff/album...

The Warwickshire / Oxfordshire stuff is very familiar to me and it's remarkable how little change there's been since they were taken.

When I was based at Old Oak Common and working trains in and out of Padd we had a regular staff minibus shuttle between the depot and the station, one of the drivers was nicknamed 'sidesaddle', he never looked where he was going - on one occasion he drove straight into the girders at the top of the road ramp at the far end of the station. Bit of a nutter he was!

Old Oak always reminded us Southern guys as a Victorian Swimming Bath.... White tiles everywhere.A couple more for you: Heathrow in 1964
Might be a staff car park as flying in those days was still a glamarous, expensive wah to travel
Also, oxford car park
Yeah it looks modern, but look again: lots of Rovers, and a fiat maera and 993 porsche. If the X5 was brand new, the photo could be 19 years old!!
