From memory it was a Sebring red car, but 281 was the Daytona yellow press demo / first car built I think ?

Well, a few bits of 281M at any rate.... hehe

I would think this is after it's 'resurrection' given the glass roof.

Yep.
It didn't have a glass roof prior to the argument with the telegraph pole (or was it a tree?)

At least these had the post 71 on spec the earlier MK1 Capri with its Zephyr spec Essex with 128HP (felt a lot less) was all over by around 4.5K RPM and just lacking frown the later spec engine with better shaped intake ports and more suitable cam felt far better with more low down punch these would spin round to 5.5 RPM no bother

Aero, you might remember back in around 1980/81 ish there was a Modena Green RS3100 that frequented the sprinting scene in the south, i recall seeing it at Goodwood and Lydden back then. Was enthusiastically driven, but did look a bit of a handful.

Sorry, no, not within my memory radar at all. I didn't get involved in the Sprinting scene until late 80's, rallying only with the odd PCT and autotest thrown in before that.
Not aware of any RS3100 involved in sprinting either by the time I got involved with AVO OC in 1983, although the reg number might ring a bell if known.

Bought a 10 year old Mk 1 Capri in my teens and became quite proficient with Isopon filler and aerosol spray cans. Only a 1600GT but it did have the XLR pack.

Friend was customising a 3 litre, which had side pipes. He and his girlfriend spent most weekends with Isopon blending in the ducktail spoiler and rust repairs. When the body was nearly finished the big end went.

I only discovered fairly recently, that SuperSpeed ( Ley St, Ilford ) offered their own modified 3 Litre Capri. They called it “ Capri 3000 GTS “
I was well aware of their 3 Litre Escorts as a pal had a rapid one and also of their not quite successfull 3 Litre Cortina MK3, but not of this Capri.
SuperSpeed also “ Race Prepared “ the 16 3000Es for the May 72 FordSports Day meet @ Brands.

Does anyone recall seeing one ? Or a road test of one ?

A mate of mine from AVO days, had owned a Superspeed Escort Mk.1 estate back in the late 70's before buying his Twin Cam. I gather they didn't make many V6 estate versions, and it was quite distinctive, being black, with blacked out rear windows, and mag Minilites etc. In the mid 80's were we at a classic car show and low and behold, we came across his old car at the show.

Sadly, yet another GXL, that probably didn’t survive this engine bay fire.

I had no idea until recently, that Plod used the MK1 3 Litre. This one is a “ poverty spec “ 3000GT.

I had no idea that SuperSpeed built an Escort V-6 estate. Wonder if it has survived ?
