I had 2 of his Capri books, they disappeared in Divorce, I must replace them, have you a photo of it ?
I used to have a copy of this one years ago, to go along with Vol 1 (Cortina) & Vol 2 (Escort) which were both by Graham Robson. Lent it to someone local in AVO OC when they bought a RS3100, and never got it back Jeremy Walton wrote the definitive Capri book , The first edition published in 1981 didn't include the 280 , this was included in the second edition. In 1990 the final edition third was published its widely available on ebay , he also wrote the sporting fords Capri which has some great photos . Another good book is European sporting coupes and High performance capris , which have several magazine road tests
some of the road tests

That's Nick Whiting's RS3100, which was a non-original paint scheme. Car was similar to Stardust, but a bluer tint to it, and with a blue bonnet and wing tops etc.Nick owned a bodyshop in SE London at the time, and did a number of body/paint jobs on a few show winning fast Fords back in the early 80's.
Here is the car among the line of RS31's at AVO OC National back in 1982, and with an under bonnet shot, the blue colour being clearly shown in this shot.
One has come up on Facebook for sale looks a bit of a mess 3.1 Rs with no engine plenty of rust

Is see this is the PKT car that was being discussed earlier they have listed it for £26,500 no engine total resto. He’s also got a standard 3 door Sierra cosworth listed at £50k so he’s clearly not afraid of asking crazy money for old Fords https://www.facebook.com/groups/retrocarparts/post...

Can anyone tell me who made the rocker covers, as they are the same as mine ?Nick owned a bodyshop in SE London at the time, and did a number of body/paint jobs on a few show winning fast Fords back in the early 80's.

There are no ID marks on the outside or inside, i think poss Swaymar.

I've probably still got the old HAVOC with the info on Nick's car, but it would take hours sifting through them trying to find it.

Hello Everyone.
Came across this forum by accident. Very glad I did.
Memory-evoking photos and knowledgeable people talking Capri intricacies takes me back almost 40 years to TNA 555K (an attempted RS26 lookalike), NXC 771M (black GT - though I added quad-lights) plus a few others whose registration numbers escape me.
In addition, I had a Daytona Yellow facelift with a Lotus Twincam in it and assisted with the resto of my mates RS31 - SKG 529M and still have an (unused) nitrous kit that can be bolted onto a standard 38DGAS.
I sort of deserted Fords in the late 80's and went all Italian - (5 speed gearboxes, (sort of) sophisticated suspension, still poor rust protection)
Anyway I happened on this site just after seeing this at Classics on the Common in Harpenden in Sept.
Can't comment on its originality but it looked fairly well used judging by the stained split rims and the interior clutter.
Perhaps I should have taken a few more pics or hung around for its owner but I did neither.

I have very vague recollections of one of the car mags (Hot Car or CCC?) doing a feature on a Sebring red 'cologne' arched Mk.1 Capri back in the day (78-80ish?) - but whether it was that one or not I have no idea.
I think you are right, someone else suggested that it may have been featured in Hot Car. SS427 Camaro said:

No one said there wouldn't be an idiot willing to pay his extortionate prices - just because most people in here haven't taken leave of their senses don't let it deflate you.
