No one said there wouldn't be an idiot willing to pay his extortionate prices - just because most people in here haven't taken leave of their senses don't let it deflate you.
I'd guess he is the seller from those comments.

That's Nick Whiting's RS3100, which was a non-original paint scheme.

I think my friend bought it off him. Added it to the long list of Capris he owned.

This RS3100 was supplied new by the famous “ Endevour Motor co “ of Brighton Sussex, one of at least 6 that they sold new.
A fellow garage owning pal, tells me an “interesting” story about this car, when he bought it in for stock, in 1976.

Has anyone a photo of another RCD registered RS3100 ??

Nothing deflates me......

I’m sorry for being a bit thick but..am I correct that neutral 3 and 427 are one and the same? It means nothing to me personally other than I saw the Capri listed recently with no engine and it reminded me of the recent thread by I believe neutral about an RS 3100 engine that someone else was refusing to hand over.

As others have said if someone was willing to pay £50k for the Cosworth then that is therefore the right price.

There has been an RS3100 in my home town for years same guy who shows it and has had it for at least 40 yrs. RBW111M. I imagine it’s a well known car.

The Modena Green RS3100 owned by friends of mine in the 80's had a similar style number plate, PFR 111M.

I've just registered to the forum. I'd like to add my RS3100 story to the mix if anyone's interested. Bought the car RRH516N in November 1987 for £1500. It had been customized as far as the exterior colour and interior trim went but it was complete with all the important bits still on the car. I smoked it around for a couple of months until one day it started to handle pretty badly and i noticed the bonnet looked loose. The o/s front inner wing strut top mount had rusted away and detached from the inner wing. Well I wasn't one to mess around in those days so the inner wing was ordered and the job was underway . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
2 years and £5300 later I was finally satisfied and the car was back on the road heading to Stanford Hall to the 1990 AVO national day. I parked next to Phil Bootes Modena Green show winning RS3.1 RPU654M. I remember Phil looking over my car as I was opening the bonnet. After he saw the engine bay he went a bit quiet and the next time I saw him he was swapping the 3 spoke RS steering wheel in his car for the original 2 spoke one. All in all it was a great day. Phil won the best Capri and I got a highly commended rosette due to a road tax irregularity.
By the way I've tried to upload photos of the car but they materialise upside down.Any ideas ?

The SuperSpeed V8 GXL is coming up @ auction soon. Anyone’s guess what it will be bid to. But what a shame that it’s not been restored to how it originally looked in the early 1980s.
I used to regularly see this car and it parked alongside my 3000GT one day @ High Beach.

How it looked in the early 80s, so much better. Huge 5700 V-8 RS decals on both rear 1/4s, a genuine RS3100 duck tail spoiler and those alloys and the large cut out in the front panel.

The front certainly looks better - the plate needs to be between those bumpers not way lower as it was …

Saw this lovely mk1 3.0 GT manual the other day at one of the garages I use …
One owner from new
Never painted or welded original paint
M reg
Loads of period upgrades - diff, sports seats, suspension, carb.

Apparently been offered £60k plus but has no plans to sell as owned since new.

What a story. The MK1 Facelift in my opinion was the best looking of all Capri’s and with the 3 litre engine remains highly desirable.

Not sure about the red stripe and webasto sunroof though.

The triple red pinstripe was the factory pinstripe colour on white cars.
Sunroof very much of the period, but I hated them, while others love them. Better than the hideous glass roofs that many were fitted with in the early 80's when they became the must have accessory....ghastly things.

That must be the last remaining one owner Mk.1 Capri surely?

I agree about the MK1 facelift; my favourite has always been the 3.0 GXL, probably because one of my teachers bought one (new) of the first ones.

This is a really scarce Capri ! Few facelift 3 Litre GTs ( large rectangular headlights ) were sold, due to buyers preferring the GXLs twin round headlights. I’ve not seen this one before, wonder how many other MK1,3 Litre cars are out there but not on the radar. I do know of a Daytona yellow facelift GT 4 speed car which I discovered a year or so ago, it’s been stored since the 1980s and that I agreed to buy, I must chase it up.

It certainly appears to be a cooling marketplace even for Fords but as you say , anyones guess .
