To modern eyes, yes......but it's original, and that type of paint job was very much of its time. Mural paintjobs scream the 1970's. It took skill with an airbrush to do as well. Its no different to all those vinyl wrap so-called customisations done to supercars etc by that Yanni bloke, who was featured on a TV programme.
Many people think thats very cool, others think its the high of naffness.
Horses for courses.

However, how much 'better' would that car look in a standard Ford colour with all that horse power under the bonnet, it would be a great 'sleeper'? If I purchased it that would be the first thing to go....

Where would you stop though? That airdam is naff, the lights in the grill suck, vinyl roofs are so crap.... it's a special, unique car and that paint job is part of it. If you want it without the paint job better to buy a scruffy 1.6 and stick a 5.0 in it.However, how much 'better' would that car look in a standard Ford colour with all that horse power under the bonnet, it would be a great 'sleeper'? Preferred the Mk2 Cortinas with Essex V6's in them though, Savage? That and Perana Mk1's
