My favourite looking Elan. The earlier cars look like they should be owned by hairdressers.
I was offered a great car for £2k. I said no.
I was offered the same car some years later for £5K. I said no.
I was offered the same car years later for £10K.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing! I sold a 2 owner 911 supersport for £17.5k, now worth around £80k (well, sells for £80k, not sure it is worth it!).I was offered a great car for £2k. I said no.

I think Elan +2's are still a relative bargain.

Just as well you never turned down the ‘hairdresser’ version cheap. You’d be kicking yourself really hard now.I was offered a great car for £2k. I said no.

I’ve never heard the original Elan described like that before. The MX5 tribute perhaps, but not the original.

Yes I've never heard that either. I’ve never heard the original Elan described like that before. The MX5 tribute perhaps, but not the original.
A beautiful day after a soggy winter, so out she came and we did 150 miles together. She ran like clockwork, fizzing between the bright yellow rape fields at a steady 120 mph, then to the Loire, then back, to stop at the Hotel de France, on to see an old friend, and then back home. Life doesn't get much better than this.

Not mine, but my Dad's 1936 Morgan F-Type. He bought it when he was 15 in 1962!! (you could drive a three wheeler at 16 back then, so long as you never engaged reverse in sight of a policeman)
Here it is on the Long Mynd in front of a couple of other Morgan buddies, Youtube footage here:

What a lovely courtyard you've got there. No pics of my elan, but it is coming out this weekend to go to vmax so i'll get someone who knows how to use a camera to take a picture of it!
A-plan told me not to bother. Theory being, if you agree a price, this is the maximum you could get for the vehicle. But you will have to know the exact value of the car. If you undervalue it at all you will lose out on that money.

I have agreed values on mine... I see your point, but to me it's an agreed price with the insurer I'll be happy with, which gets updated annually. Saves having to fight to get the value if it wasn't prior agreed.
