Thanks for posting this - good memories of my dear old Dad's (nowhere near as pumped up) Mk 1 Escort collection. I can recall a very tired and gutless two door estate, a gutsy and swift van that he converted to an estate, and a couple of saloons, two then four door which he always tinkered with.6 months in and I finally have some photos in the nice weather.

JUST got the capri out of the garage for a polish
1977 MK2 rebored to 3.1 fitted with 280 interior
she was an ebay purchase , very little to do , need to remove and replace the 3000s stripes as they have been applied incorrectly , ,
video of when I first picked her up

Very, very nice! Good arrival video, showing your plate so pointless blocking them out in the pics! The plates are the ONE thing I would change though - nice acrylic or even metal ones. No R reg Capri had those plates. I know why they're on there but that doesn't make it right!1977 MK2 rebored to 3.1 fitted with 280 interior

Brings back memory, though I don't recall the bumpers and window trims in red?
They're correct, Volcano Red as per the photo. Also it should have a pair of bright red stripes along the body side in the same colour, but I'm struggling to get the paint finish good enough to put them on as yet. Lots of red detailing on these - along with trims, bumpers and stripes, they also have red carpets and red tartan seats. DBSV8 said:

That is rather tasty and no doubt upsets the purists..... Good! The wide arches look familiar is it an X pack body kit?

its a mk1 cologne kit used on the racing capris between 1971-1972 they were very popular in the 70s this is the #52 Ford Capri RS2600 driven by Dieter Glemser leading the Ferrari Daytona . 3 Capris were entered finishing 10th & 11th overall at Le mans in 1972
in 1973
the bigger 3.4 litre GAA capris battled the BMW 3.0 CSL bat mobiles

Well it was a long time ago! We re engined ours with a vx 490 unit with twin carbs and 5 speed box for a bit more umph. I've gone with twin Strombergs on this, I was intending to put the overdrive box in but the gearlever position is a bit further forward and more difficult to sort out than I thought. I have a big valve head, cam, Dellortos and so on, but I'm not really sure they suit the estate. Incidentally the VX490 club still have a bounty out on those who scrapped "their" cars to nick the Getrag boxes.
