Fairy snuff, sure it brings a great smile for you and most admirers. I also prefer the 70's panels of all the evolutions.

As for the plates, an R reg isn't right for the year, either of the chassis or the "look." It's just a suffix plate I like.......
Coincidence that it kinda reads ‘Brewster’ if you squint... winkwinkwink

PS epic car smile

And that's why I like it. It's historic enough for most not to notice it's a few years out and it's not really trying to be something it's not if you don't know.

Thanks for the compliments guys. It's been a labour of love, sweat, tears, blood and more cash than I ever planned to spend. I'm happy with the result though, finally after 5 years.

There's lots about the car to get purists worked up. Trim from the 60's, panels from the 70's, chassis from the 80's, engine from the 90's, not to mention custom bits all over. I've not set out to recreate any particular car. I've just built a car with all the bits I thought best/prettiest from the Porsche back catalogue. It's not really a "backdate" in that sense, nor is it a Singer rep. I've seen many attempts at those, but those wide wings never look right to my eyes unless they are Singer's own bespoke ones.

As for the plates, an R reg isn't right for the year, either of the chassis or the "look." It's just a suffix plate I like. I have a pair of black and silver plates, but when I put them on it just looked a bit naff to me, plus it's only 37 years old so not entitled to them yet anyway. Black and silver plates on a black and silver car looked just a bit too monochrome and kitsch. I'm quite fond of the raised digit 70's style ones I have. I think they really set it off.
It's lovely... clap

I don't understand why they decided to change the rules to 40 years. Soon my X reg 1981 spitfire will be allowed to have them which would just be wrong.
I don't think there was a specific decision to do this, more so that the eligibility for old-style plates was linked to VED exemption during the time that the latter was fixed at 1972 and earlier, and when the VED cut-off date started jumping forward again, the plates came along with it.

I'm not sure that the B&S plates at 40 really is legal. There has been some debate it about and it's not clear that VED/MoT exemption grants the right to historic plates.

Here's mine just completed in the past few weeks. I've spent 5 years modifying an 82 SC, backdating it and fitting a 3.6 Varioram.

Debatable... some people think they look daft on cars that would never have had them.
Agree with you .. I know the rules have changed but to me they should only be on cars up to L reg. I don't understand why they decided to change the rules to 40 years. Soon my X reg 1981 spitfire will be allowed to have them which would just be wrong.

Wholeheartedly agreed.

Black and silver plates look utter gash out of period. Perfect ally with raised plastics are spot on

I thought it was pre 75 cars can run them. Sure there is a .gov webpage on it. Nothing at all related to VED or MoT exemption.

Thanks all for the compliments of the 2002, appreciate it! 500 miles on it now so will hopefully get it booked in for final mapping soon!

Love the gt40, would love to see that out in the wild, i bet it snaps some necks!

And the 911 back date looks cracking, late 60's/ early 70's 911 is the ultimate dream car so im a big fan!

Finally got around to getting the terrible door lock conversion sorted on my GT junior. Filled with metal instead of filler and a door respray.
Very pleased with result.
