It looks a bit Salmsom-ish which is not such a bad thing.

I agree, they don't look big these days. (I know there's a whole other thread on the subject).

We found they deteriorated quickly when we replaced them in the late 1990’s, with the silvering going grey and finally black, which isn’t too bad on a light coloured car but disappears on a black car.

Lol, I know what you mean. I used to be quite precious about it, trying to get it more accurate. (Which it will never be, because it’s right hand drive). Then in 2010 we did this with it for 3 years -

Suddenly accurate replica was irrelevant.

Now, it’s actually going back more towards its original purpose, which was club sprints and hill climb type spec. as a caged road car. It’s just a fun toy really.

I guessed that had happened. They just look scruffy in the end. Maybe I'll just find a dark coloured WR to stick these on.

Austin 7 special, with a lot of tat attached to it.

Not sure why you would have wheel spinners & nuts for example and there appears to be more dials than you would know what to do with!
Perhaps the owner is into steampunk, that's the only explanation I can think of.
I think it looks good fun and a bit of a laugh.
Mind you, have you seen some of the steampunk girls? Maybe there's method in his madness after all!
lick
Me too. Bonus points for upsetting the purists too wink
Owner knows his cars and was kind enough to give me a tour of his amazing collection, in the flesh this is a beautiful piece of machinery.
