Thank you. Have a couple more? This has to be the longest restoration ever. But we are almost there?

Hey Threadman hang on in there. 12 years! WOW! I thought 5 years was rotten? Good luck. We have put Coopercraft calipers, split circuit braking, and heavily upped the BHP. If I can offer any advice on these please ask.

The HK500 has to be one the the worst handling 300+ bhp cars that I have had the pleasure of driving! So if you can only go fast in a straight line, why not go very fast?????

Hi Treadman,

I will ask about the door linings. I have attached a couple of pictures of mine. I know the trimmers had to do a lot of work on the fiberglass door bins.
Spellbound that body looks increadibly solid. Good luck. Our starting point was was a little more religous?????

Has anybody done anything with HK500 wiring looms- I may be looking to make one if there is no other option.

Peter

Hi Spellbound, I have just been on the German Facel Vega Club site. They have looms for HK500's on there, new for sale. I'm not sure if they are left or right. We made mine from scratch and I wouldn't like to do it again in a hurry! Good luck!

Sort of Facel related but actualy I just wanted to share my excitement? I took delivery of this yesterday as my new summer toy. Now this is what I hope the Facelia would look like if Facel made one today? The brakes are very similar to my HK500's in that you have to stamp on them? It's a cross between driving a modern sports car but with a seriously classic element thrown in.
Thank you also to Peter at Spellbound. I popped into see them on Friday and have a look at the HK500 they are restoring. If anybody gets the chance, then go and have a look at their set up, it's very impressive as is there standard of restoration.

There was a rumour that Hans would be be producing a run of HK500 door handles. I need a pair? Anybody else?

HK500's must be worse? I lived with mine in London for 10 years and knew every rat run that was available so that I could get out of traffic and get some air through it. Putting a big electric fan on it transformed my ability to use the car. But that meant changing from Dynamo to alternator etc. It's also a warm car to sit in. There is so much glass.

It sounds like bids were taken off the wall and perhaps the car sold after the auction? Justin did you get lucky on this one???????

I'm sure the vendors received almost all of the sale price. If nobody wants to buy an item at auction on the day it's presented then the price is always going to be low. If more than one person want the item then perhaps it will make over market price? Congradulations Justin, well bought and I hope it sells again for at at least £60,000. The respray was a little lacking? but it looked very honest with a lovely lived in interior. It did start an argument with my little group as to the best colour for an HK500. Black was favourite? If I was to do another then I think a very, very light primrose or cream, or maybe red?????

I think as the world markets change RHD will come into it's own but it's probably a way off yet? Saying that a lot of cars are already finding there way to Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore?
I'm probably biased also? In hindsight black is best? But Jaguar Liquid Silver with Red?????
Black or Silver? Silver or Black? I'll tell you soon? Almost there? Come on Andrew?

Hi Threadman, I think you have spoken to Andrew who is finishing a Facel for me. You are welcome to photo my other HK500. Its unrestored/original but I'm afraid it is in Dorset?

Hi Bob,
My dash was airbrushed by Paul Carslake. He's quite a famous painter in his own right! I think he is, or was, brother in law to Ronnie Wood. He did a great job on mine even putting a line down the middle to look like bookmatched veneer. I can forward his number if you wish. He is based in Essex.
