wondering afterwards if they'd think it wasn't worth the bother as I'd remember the incident, or more likely think, right, I'll have you for that.. Feared the latter..
looks like you're fcuked either way then. best keep an eye out for dodgy transactions online
Cancelled the card less than 5 minutes after I left the station. If I'd not and they had tried it on, I wouldn't have been covered..
Don't leave your cards in the stations folks..
I wouldnt ever leave my card - I would rather phone someone and get them out of bed to come and pay - or go and find a cash machine (more and more petrol stations have them now).
The Shell on Princess Parkway is a Pre-pay afer midnight, but not once have I had to pre-pay, I stand there clicking the pump and look disapproving (think Nora Batty without the stockings ) and they soon switch it on.
Dad always had a £20 note in the Chims secret cubby hole - that is until he lent the car to a customer who took it and never replaced the money and I do the same (until I spend it and forget to replace it).

take a roll of sellotape with you - if they tell you you have to leave the card, explain that you believe they are theives trying to scam you, so to ensure they cant you are going to sellotape it to the window, so you can see it at all times when filling up - if they want to make you feel like a criminal, make damn sure you make them feel like one to

Some places (Tesco for example) have pay at the pump facilities. Given the number of bilkings in my area, it astounds me that pre-pay isn't the norm,
Yeah, I will normally go to tescos as it's easier!
But its quite simple why other places won't do it, At Tesco's the chances are you have allready been shopping, At say your local BP Garage they have to make more money from you by getting you in the shop to buy things, thats not going to happen if you pay at the pump!
What sort of place do people live in anyway that they make you pay first, you get none of that crap round here!
Next time pay with the card and get the cashier to put the petrol in for you!

Remember that funny stuff we used to use.....cash, worth keeping some in the wallet for emergencies
Usually keep an emergency fund, but some evil piskie persuaded me to use it to buy tequilla the night before and I'd not been to a cash point to replace it..
no secret £20 Dr.Bert? must've been a really good night if you even contemplated prolonging it by using the special fund!
