Who's got em then?
I plan on getting one a week on Saturday in Reading. Almost looking forward to it, I'm intrigued as to how much its going to hurt, especially since I'm getting a 'seam' put in, in a straight line from my waistband to my armpit.
Can't think of many other generic designs that I hopefully wont regret in a couple of years (you know, like when you thought MC Hammer was cool but now is just a big joke...)
Also heard from a colleague that you can't get the area wet for a week or so!? Any truth to this as I'm getting it 4 days before my 19th birthday and would be upset if I can't shower!

Thats boocks as you need to shower everyday Don't get it wet for 4 hours maybe, but 4 days? Just keep rubbing savlon into it for about 4 days, and dab it dry with a towel dont rub, as it might smear it.Also, you sure about your choice? Remember, a tattoo is for life, not just for your teens...
You can wet it but no swimming / chlorine contact
I have my initials - SWM on my left shoulder
I like it and sometime forget I have it as you can never see it and I don't think you will find many others like it
The pain will be different for everyone. My friend thought it tiggled. I thought it felt like someone stabbing a broken bottle in my arm and dragging it around. I want another but I dont fancy the pain again!

Agree with the advice above, I've had 5 done and care is the biggest thing to consider. You can splash water on it as you would in a shower, but try to to soak it in water. A light splash under the shower using something pure like simple soap will be great. Pat dry and use savlon morning and night, or when the scab feels tight.
Don't pick it, and avoid tight clothes until the scab is established- just resist picking it- even when there is only one bit left! Also- avoid getting it in the sun for the first couple of weeks- although shouldn't be difficult with the summer we are having.
Agree on the pain too, my mate is pretty hard and couldn't stand it, I am a wuss and found it OK.
Go for it- but be sure you like what you have- my first is 7 years old and I still love it.
Cheers

Well I'm getting one because a mate is and I said I would join him. Don't need to be concerned about the girlies (insert your own gay joke here), as long as the missus doesn't mind, I'm golden.
that's a flipping daft reason to have a tattoo...as nervous said it should be something that means something and ideally it should be 'bespoke' imo.
i personally don't get tattoos. but i half understand when it'sa one off - my cousin designed his himself. but just going in and saying you want the one of the grimreaper with the joint/machine gun/electric guitar (delete as applicable)* is a bit tragic.
'*or maybe all three
