I am pleased to say I have finally realised an ambition that has been dear to my heart for more years than I care to remember...

I have hankered after one of these, probably for over thirty years, looked longingly at them from afar, drooled whenever I have seen them in a shop, but in truth, never really been able to justify the expense, even though they are a classic of British engineering, selected for the design centre in London......A true icon...

However, I bit the bullet, and decided to go for it, reasoning that tomorrow might be too late, it took a great deal of courage, and I suppose time will tell if I made the right decision, so today I bought......

A four slice Dualit toaster in Cream and chrome.....cloud9

Any other lucky owners out there???

Me neither. I was expecting a threesome with Swedish twin sisters at least.

Yep got one, and the toast is no different to the toast that was cooked in the tefal cheapie I had, looks nicer in the kitchen though. Got the toasted sandwich gadget thing as well, don't bother with that.

Got them in work, not sure they are better than my cheap Dualit. Very nice but in my opinion you cannot beat a gas grill. Well, you can beat it, it will just get a bit bent.

Indeed - surely toast is toast, no matter how much your toaster costs? I've just looked up prices for Dualit. A hundred and fifty quid for a blummin' bread-tanner? You're having a Turkish bath.

You are sooooo looking at this the wrong way round. Good toast is essential to the English gentleman. This meas consistent treatment of each and every slice, and that, frankly, means a shiny dualit such as the OP has just bought.

Or an equally shiny Tefal Avanti (like mine) for under twenty quid. Go, as the Americans say, figure.

Because of course, it is the shinyness that matters, after all...

And, no, I will not "go figure". I cann see, though, a pattern here...

How very last century...

This is what I have - the best bit of kitchen kit I have bought in years...a true PH'ers toaster!

Motorised toast carriage, touch sensitive controls, led light countdown to complete toastation, digital toasting level settings, re-warm function, soft-tone completion notification...warming rack.....I could go on....

hehe
