Which bit of Hammersmith? I did Epsom to Riverside for 3 years and found it a complete pain in the morning. Could take 2 hours to drive 15 miles 
Depending on where you need to get to in Hammersmith, overland to Wimbledon + District Line to Putney Bridge + bus up Fulham Palace Road could work. It sounds complicated but was an hour door to door for me.
