French speeding tickets being sent UK licence holders

Slowing down? It's just the lack of familiarity and the whole kph versus mph thing. Need to get into the kph groove. Oh, and maps can be deceptive. It's a bigger country than you think.
Waze? Gee, thanks, why did nobody tell me about this 3 weeks ago?
Waze includes a digital kph speedo, that also changes colour as you exceed the posted speed limit.Waze? Gee, thanks, why did nobody tell me about this 3 weeks ago?

If resident in France, then I'm sure you would be chased until you ended up in court for un payment. And then given a tougher punishment.
My poor explanation I feel. I meant English getting the French speeding tickets through their door in the UK. Here, with a French license, we have no option but to pay up. I was just wondering if those posting never did pay as they were saying or was it all bluster?lowdrag said:
I'm glad this subject has come up again because there was another thread on how, if at all, the French were actually collecting the fines. Some were getting a couple of letters and then no more, some saying they weren't going to pay at all. So I was wondering if anyone here has received a penalty notice yet not paid. And if so, were they pursued?
My take on not paying up is - they have your name, they have your car details, when you visit the country again you could easily be flagged on a computer at the port, at a toll booth, or just passing a police car.Paying seems the best option unless you don't plan to go to the country again.
I got a ticket sent to me at home from my Spanish Road trip. I just paid it as I know I will be going back, possibly in the same car

So does Google maps. Waze is owned by Google and I assume use a lot of the same data, but there are quite a few errors in it. Driving through Belgium on Sunday it seemed to be giving me the correct speed limits, but on the way back along the other carriageway of the same road it was convinced we were in a 90 limit for ages on a stretch I'm pretty sure was 120 (the Belgians don't seem to go in for repeater signs but everyone else was doing 120), and through a stretch of variable limit that was set at 100.

I received one on my return.
45euros 121 in a 110.
This one was for July, we got back last week......waiting further news.
And forgetting all the other dross that is being posted this is what I was waiting to hear. The post was quite simple - have you or have you not paid a fine that you have received for speeding in France in your UK registered car? Or refused to pay the said fine and been taken to court for non-payment? Or, as here, not had any further correspondence from the French authorities? Those are all the replies I want to see. No further crap please.45euros 121 in a 110.

Early appero there Marshall?
One for the spelling section there I fear. "Early apero there marshal" would be more correct. But as before, not one person has replied to the question asked. So many were "refusing to pay" in previous comments, and I therefore must assume that the comments were sheer bravado. Ita perit virtus, one might sayMagooagain said:

Ita perit virtus, one might say.Received this morning: 3 more speeding tickets, two of them for the same day and one of them for doing 96kph in a 90kph. Leeway? There clearly ain't much.
If I thought there was any human involvement at all in the process, I'd say someone was taking the proverbial.
Just imagining where I'd stand had this been in the UK. I'd now be looking at a nice little ban I guess.
And just for information, I paid the previous two.
Hey, maybe that's where I went wrong...

I have had a few over the years that reached me in Canada and have paid them on receipt. Also Germany did the same. As I return periodically I do not want any problem with unpaid.
Interestingly, I have shipped two cars to Europe over the years for a few weeks of touring/track. These were on Canadian plates. Never got a ticket from any country and did France,Germany, Netherlands,Belgium and Denmark. I got a few flashes ( not extreme speed) but never heard about them after.

Sorry what's that you're saying there sonny? repeat again please!
Ita perit virtus. Sorry, but you are showing your lack of education. Try using Google. It may help. And I repeat - no one has come forward and said they have flatly refused to pay the fines sent to the UK from France. I therefore have to believe that all have caved in, despite their bravado here, and paid up. I don't get fines sent to me here in France when I transgress in the UK, and I wonder if Brexit will change things for the Brits. But in the meantime, if no one comes forward, the answer to the OP is clear? They all pay up.Simes205 said:
Got another 2 today.
We did cover 3000 miles over 4.5 weeks it wasn’t over a week.
How many's that then? We did cover 3000 miles over 4.5 weeks it wasn’t over a week.
We must have covered the best part of 2k miles over a fortnight and I've had 5 so far. I'm still expecting more!
The thing is, I've not been done for speeding in the UK in almost 20 years now - I'm especially careful in anything that's less than the national speed limit - and if someone like me is getting rinsed I'd imagine there's a lot more of us.
