We have been out a couple of times this week, but were pretty astounded to see everyone in supermarkets wearing masks, but also standing around and talking to people in the isles.

My two parameters for social distancing are proximity and duration. I regard everyone around me as a potential killer and so keep moving and give people the widest birth possible.

My friend, who has a suppressed immune system, drove back to his apartment in Versailles this week. He had a permit from his work, but was not stopped for a paper check there and back.

The brake definitely seems to have been lifted. Just not having to generate paper to go for a walk seems a huge step towards normality.

And it continues to be nice and sunny.
Agreed, re everyone else is a potential killer. I give everyone else a Wide berth as well.
I urgently need to get to France and on to Italy, il for biz, il call the ferry cos on Monday and see what they say.

If it is for work then your employer will need to complete the second form to transit France

I think travelling on the shuttle will be safer than a ferry, you are automatically distanced in your car and it’s always a bun-fight on a ferry when returning to the car deck before unloading commences. Going to Italy you will inevitably pass through many Red departments, so expect to just keep driving for long periods.

Still seems much safer than flying

Thanks for the reply.
No way will I be flying anywhere, for a considerable time.

I work for myself, so which forms would I need to fill in ?

I do on “ most occasions “ Really enjoy the ferry crossing, I’ve only done the train once, in late 2012, to Paris.
TBH, the thought of using the tunnel in a vehicle, scares me, but my thoughts Exactly, re the scramble for the upper decks and the same again, re back down to the car decks. I always have a breakfast on the ferry as well.
I use the ferry a lot and over the last couple of years I have really noticed, some disgusting looking people, with Zero manners, aggressive and filthy personal habits. The thought of sharing a ferry stair well, with any of them, in the present circumstances, is something I do not relish.

The second one for yourself. If stopped you might need to clarify that you are - un auto-entrepreneur anglais. They will understand, but any added documentation about your business in Italy should amplify your justification.

With respect,I would be carefull using the phrase " Auto Entrepreneur Anglais" as its an actual tax and contribution scheme in France and there are thousands of English and British using it like myself.
It may give the impression that you are saying that you work here in France and the potential for saying you live in France.

It may just cause enough confusion to send you home.
Good luck with it.

The attestation requires him to give his address, in the UK. Presumably his car will be registered, in the UK.

His temporary destination will be in Italy and vice-versa.

He is allowed freedom of passage, just like a truck driver.

Wife's family live in Brittany what are people thoughts on when we may be able to drive there via Eurotunnel soon?
How are things settling down?
The family are very isolated in a rural area and she is worried about them.

14 days quarantine
Don’t know how it would be policed France is a big place
You would also be quarantined on return
Flights are scheduled to start 1 July and the thoughts are that the quarantine will be in place for 6 weeks or so indicating that mid to late July will be clear for travelling
I’m thinking end of July for travelling without restrictions but I may push it back to August
I had crossing booked for 24 March still waiting to get out there

Yes I get that, that's why using the term you suggested may confuse the issue imo.

More information is due on 28th, but for the general public the 14-day confinement’s are likely to remain a big issue preventing travel from other countries.

If you arrived in Calais (for example) but were planning on travelling down via Belgium, Germany and Switzerland or Austria with bookings to show where you were staying en route to Italy does anyone know if you would be allowed on your way?

Can you even book a hotel in any of those countries at the moment?
Highly unlikely I think?

I think with a camper van you'd not need a hotel...
