What do you mean? Things ARE sorted in France, it's the UK that arbitrarily decided to add quarantine from June 8th that's put everything out of synch.

Spain is the only notable exception within Europe and that's because they are still transitioning through their planned and demonstrably sensible phased return to normality, unlike the UK that seems to make decisions on the flip of a coin each week.

There are so many busting a gut to get to France but and it’s a big but, things are not the same.Going out is supposed to be a pleasure, relaxing in fact. That is the issue,it isn’t,waiters in masks, bar staff in masks, plastic screens at every till etc. Grocery prices have gone up,in fact everything seems to have gone up.
In every country which has relaxed the rules infections are on the up,slowly but still rising.

By all means come to France, just don’t expect it to be like last time.

From my perspective, things are very close to being back to normal. Camping cars are out in force, but we saw no tents in our local campsite - that might have changed. My one concern is that some people are being far too lax with regard to future risks.

On Friday we went to a local market which, in the main, worked well. However the indoor section had been barriered to create a sensible one-way systems. But there were vendors an clients not wearing masks, folks stopping and chatting and lots of bissues and hand shaking. We won’t be returning.

Fortunately cafes, restaurants and shops are all open and people are getting on with life. Pity the weather has changes.

We could be driving down to Spain in a couple of weeks. It will be interesting to compare attitudes in the two countries.

Travelled to France via the tunnel yesterday. No problems at all. Train about 50% full.

Some people did not seem to realise that you still need to sign a document to say you do not have the lurgy, although the French had paper copies to hand out.

we are waiting for P&O to decide when they will be able to take cars on the ferry from Hull to Zeebrugge, they have said they can only carry fright and priority cargo at the moment, we have a booking for 13th September and a lot of hotels booked to Normandie for 2 weeks so we will just have to wait and see

I Crossed the channel this morning on the shuttle - only 1-train per hour, but otherwise fine.

The journey up from SAUMUR was fine - coffee and pastries in Arnage and easy driving apart from heavy rain bursts. Hotel worked fine.

Unless an uncontrolled second wave hits France I think holidays will be safe.

Having said that, the dopey couple behind us on the train in a big Mercedes seemed completely clueless, they stopped at the height restriction barrier 🤭 - I had to pass them to demonstrate it was safe to go.

Low and behold when we stopped at Chobam Services, they were there again, kissing and hugging their offspring in the car park despite supposedly being in 14-days quarantine.

due to work / furlough etc i've ended up with the last 2 weeks of August off, christ i remember now why i try to get non-school hols times.....or is it just C19 rtelated?
i feel like i'm being ripped a new one looking at the prices, Eurotunnel looks to be a good £30-40 on average dearer each way than what i recall paying before?
£260 return, out Sunday 11am ish, return on a Friday 16.00 ish, non refundable
the Saturday out was £224, again cheapest option

On the brightside.... at least i can get over out again, i'll bring the Sunshine along smile
and i'm guessing it will be like nothing happened, you know , just like here when the Pubs and football are back

FlexiPlus will have a nominated crossing date/time - you can turn up and travel 24 hours either side of that time & be first onto the next available train.

If you're not going to make that, you need to call them prior to the booked departure & make a change.

When you get to the tunnel, stick to the right hand side ticket booths for the shortest route to passport control.

After passport control, there's a Flexi lounge with loos & free food & drink.

On the return leg, the Flexi lane is on the left, but clearly marked.

France is open - I drove down today

The tunnel was quiet but apart from having to stay in your ar for the crossing, business as usual - no extra questions or forms.

I stopped at 2 service stations - first open as usual, the second had signs saying face masks obligatory - so about half the people were wearing them.

Supermarket once I got here seemed pretty much the same as last year.

Off to our house 8/8/20

Euro tunnel relieved me of nearly £400 for the privilege.

Hoping everything stays as is

Took a considered gamble and booked a really nice holiday place nearly 2 months ago (on free cancellation) for the beginning of September - part of me wishes I'd been a bit more adventuorous date-wise and risked August.

Had to do something this year anyway, as had Eurotunnel tickets for June this year, booked last year to use or lose.

Should be well back to "normal" UK & France by then, holiday-wise, I hope.
