If you are still buying in St Germain then it may be a good idea to tell the agents that they need to change the 'for sale sign'

Ha ha, is it still up? The online adverts have all been taken down.

Yep, we've paid the deposit, compromis was signed and now we wait for the 60 days of nothing to happen.

Bourse Immobilier were a bit crap to be honest. They never replied to our calls on any properties they had (we bought this through Confolens Immo), so I expect that sign will stay up until we move in.

Yes it's still up.
I suppose their theory is any publicity is good publicity.
Good luck with it.

The little cabin bar in the park is going to try and stay open all year. They have done well so far.
I had chicken n chips there last Satuday, nice it was.

We had a car meet there a while back and last weekend there were about a hundred mopeds on a charity run that stopped for lunch.
Big Ferrari weekend up at the circuit this weekend.

The Val de Vienne circuit. About 20 miles north of Confolens 16500.

Congratulations Sebastian
I am absolutely sure you will have great fun with this new direction in life....
Best of luck with it... isn't it time for some pictures of the property?

There you go. Not the prettiest house at the moment, but it certainly has potential to be. There should be lovely granite under that horrible crepie.

Is it still going to be a permanent move?

I painted those shutters about eight years ago. They weigh a ton.
Lots of potential in the house that's for sure.

What wood are they? Oak? I want to make some more for the back to replace the prison bars.
I shall be painting them again, in a nice blue. I've never really got this 'lets paint everything brown' that's so popular in the countryside.

You might want to check that colour change with the maire first... smile

We have friends who painted theers and only when they'd finished were they told to put them back to the brown colour they'd been previously.

Yes. St Germain is a bit like a listed village because of the Chateau ruins above the house. Most things have to be passed by the architect de France and batiment de France.
Including render type and re tileing the roof etc.

St Germain de Confolens now comes under the commune of Confolens. Which in my opinion is a good thing. Improuvements have been made without the petty squabbling that used to happen between various clicks in the village.

As for the shutters. I'm trying to remember, probably oak but I'm not a 100% on that. The top ones may be a different wood to the ones below.

It's a great house and has some nice features. You may find a few pieces of decreative/carved stone that will have been robbed originally from the above Chateau. Many house's each side of the river have odd bits in the houses robbed about 300 hundred years ago.
There is some unique history to St Germain.

Yes. It will definitely need a Déclaration Préalable. A few of the neighbours have a similar colour So hopefully it’s on the approved list.

Well, we made it.
Macron made it a little more difficult than it needed to be, and I needn’t have packed my suit as the notaire signing day ended up being just us posting signed docs through the letterbox. But we’re in!
