I recently bought some carbon clinchers from a reputable wheel builder. I set them up as tubeless but the rear would lose pressure sometimes over a day other times over several days. I tried re taping the rims to rule that out but it kept happening. After one ride I noticed Tyre sealant on the brake track but didn't think anything of it. After my last ride I checked the wheels the next day and found the sealant residue shown in the picture. Is that the brake track delaminating?
They have only done 250 miles and the wheel builder has had them back and told me they're fine while ignoring the photos I've sent. They also said they will only refund 60% of the value.

Has anyone seen anything like this before?

It certainly looks it's leaking sealant between the brake track and the body of the rim. Are those rims really tubeless compatible ?

Yes they are tubeless compatible, after looking into it and speaking to the wheel builder it might be a problem with the tyre rim interface and not the brake track after all. I'll refit the Tyre and see how it goes

That tyre doesn't look like its bead has bottomed out into grooves?

We've been running Scwhalbe Pro ones on LBC carbon rims tubeless all year and they seal up great. Sadly we've punctured them all and there's no way the sealant works in high pressure setups so I'm abandoning them.

It looks like the drips have originate from the tyre wall - you have two small blobs, then been scrubbed out by your brake blocks and continued down the rim.

If the brake track was delaminating you'd normally see a bulge, are the rims running true?

As per bobley, when you spin that wheel I would think you'll notice it is not round as the tyre doesn't look seated...

I remember the same on my tubeless ready wheels with normal tyres, had to pump them right up and hear loud clicks and pops as they tyre seats properly.

Seems some people get on with the Pro Ones some don't. I run IRC tubeless and they perform very well.

You need to get the right tyre/sealant combination.

They made lots of popping noises as I inflated them and seemed balanced when rotated. I will go through the tubeless set up again and make sure it's all seated properly. I have some IRC's on a set of archetypes which I had no problems with, maybe it is the one pro's that's causing the issue

Malcolm has just had some new IRCs in after waiting ages for them. Are those wheels his? Could it be sealant leading at the valve where it goes through the rim? I have had issues with valves through rim tape on Aluminium wheels, which was visible in sealant escaping around the rim/valve body and adjacent spokes holes.

No they were from a different wheel builder. I think that the tyre was just not seated properly I'll try again and if I can't get it to work I'll order some more IRC's
