The Scimitar forum guys seem very open minded to engine conversions. My favourite is the SE4 with a Tvr speed Six.

I think a large part of the relaxed nature is that Reliant them selves bought in the Ford engines simply because they were available, afordable and just about powerful enough. Also bolting several robin engines together wasn't a good idea.

I've had a good measure around the engine bay, IMO any modern V6 will fit OK, V8's or straight 6 would be problematic because of the length of the new engine, Bcoz of the steering rack position. Of course anything is possible, but swopping the essex V6 for a modern V6 is certainly the simplest solution to this upgrade - I'm fitting the Jag V6 with it's gearbox and all the associated gubbins necessary to make the install as easy [and quick as poss]. The older Omega/alfa/Volvo V6 engines ain't worth the effort IMO. Be good to swop install tales when the cars are up and runningsmile

Don't forget that the Scimitar originally had the Ford Zephyr straight 6 so there should be plenty of room up front. With the V6 GTE didn't they put the spare wheel in front if the engine?
