First off all I asked was to see if his car could put its claimed power down and use it in the real world. I then asked if it handle the canyons in the real world .
He has refused to post a real dyno showing the claimed power and anyone that knows anything about engines can clearly see something is wrong in his own posted videos.
The fact that he says his car is only 10% Lotus is a joke.....

It took zero effort to look into Hennesy's past dealings as they are well known here in the states.

Sorry I popped the $1.000,000.00 supercar fantasy bubble guys. I'll just leave it be now...

Cheers

It's not the bubble popping that bothers people, it's the manner in which you lofted the big pin.

ETA. Some could consider your own car to be a far cry from the Lotus ethos _ the original elan was not about huge power, the most pure elise is probably the most basic. Who is really bothered by 700+ horse power?

I am sure Colin Chapman would have been delighted if he could have got 700BHP reliably from 1.8L.

I think the Lotus philosophy was about keeping it Light and not keeping it simple.

Sometimes keeping it simple was the route to keeping it light but it wasn't the end goal.

Hennesy is a huge blister and needed popping....wavey

As for my car, its my car and not something being put together from donor cars to be sold off as something else.
I'm not bothered by its 707 HP or its looks since it's mine and I like it just the way it has grown into the rocket pig it is today.

We are not talking about a 45 yr. old Elan

I've reduced my quote to help you out here.

Instead of being aggressive and challenging Hennesy to a duel at Dawn, you should have taken up the offer to experience the car first hand and then given us an opinion.

The crusade to show Hennesy as some form of charlatan is a different topic as to whether the venom is a decent car or not.

No crusade on my part I just stated facts in responce .

Guys, come on now do you think he was gonna just toss me the keys and say come me back and let me know what you think ?

I've let a number of guys I know take my car out on track and in the canyons to get their opinion of my setup not some show and tell dog and pony show... He's a scamer and people don't change.

Still the videos of a smokin engine tells me its not a $1,000,000.00 supercar...It's a modified Lotus..

Seriously what price should I put on my car..... $850,000,00 ? Oh and it doesn't blow smoke.;)

I honestly don't know him or his company well enough to have an opinion on whether he would of tossed you the keys and asked for feedback, given you a passenger ride, or indeed bottled it. But to not give them an option and then form an opinion of whether or not they would of gone through with it seems foolish.

At the very least your opinions would of been vindicated, at best you could of driven their version of a quick exige and maybe taken something from the exercise.

To be honest I wanted them to put their best driver in the car and see them take it through the twisties without crossin the centerline on every corner....
I know from my own experience with a lightweight Lotus and big power there is a learning curve as you progressively increase the power....
If their Lotus has the power they claim and they don't have the seat time at lower power levels to know its handling quirks up to where it is now then that car will be totally uncontrollable and plain dangerous in the real world...

I knew I was taking advantage of them when I asked them to come play in the canyons. I have 6 yrs. of Exige ownership with power levels growing from 160-615 whp and I know the car. To jump into a 1,200 HP Lotus for the first time for anyone is a learning curve no one will be able to master on the street....

They took a Lotus and turned it into something so far from the base of perfect handling mild powered sportscar and turned it into a stretched out Texas Mile joke.

My offer for them to come up to LA and go for a little canyon run still stands, I say come prove me wrong and I'll buy lunch..

The thing is Frank, you must have known that they would not have taken you up on your offer of a trip through the canyons.

You've made assumptions about what they would have and what not have done if you had accepted the offer _ but you didn't so it's all assumptions.

Email him, apologise for not accepting his offer straight off, go and see the car, come back and tell us all your thoughts about the venom.

I accept that you have issues over Hennesy; divorce those thoughts for a day and see what it's all about.

If you don't get answers as to BHP or handling etc. then we will be interested to hear that _ it will be based on cold hard facts.

Ok I just sent this off to Hennessey :

Hey John, it's Frank Profera [ronin] from the forums.

There are a few guys that think I'm over reacting and should base my opinions on first hand knowledge not speculation ...

How would you like me to eat crow on every forum with regards to your Lotus creation ?

I'd like to take you up on your offer and see your car first hand and if possible to get a ride or drive and see it through it's paces in the twisties...
I've got a little seat time in a high output Lotus [ 707 BHP], so I have a fairly good idea how things should feel.

I hear crow is tasty when properly cooked....

Cheers dude,

Frank

Does it ever occur to you that you come across as a bit of a tosser?

If it had been my business and you come waltzing in with that attitude I would have drop kicked you straight into the inbox marked B I N.

My version would have been;

John

Thank you very much for the invite to visit you and the venom. I would be delighted to take up your offer and find out more about the car.

Whilst I have been sceptical about the venom, I am open minded and look forward to discussing things in more detail with you. Please let me know a time when it is convenient for me to visit; I am available .........[fill in gap].

You will be aware that I have spent copious amounts of time on my own project _ I will be bring this car with me so hopefully you can give me your views in return.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards

Frank

censored That.
Seriously dude he's the one that needs to prove his car to be what he claims... I have no need to kiss arse to prove him wrong... I can do that on the road.

He hasn't responded to my Email and I can tell ya he won't since it's all smoke and mirrors from Hennessey.

Think about it ... some old guy with a home brew modified Lotus stomps all over a $1,000,000.00 so called supercar and even if he bettered my car it took a $1,000,000.00 to do it, if it could. hehe

He loses either way..... But operators are standing by to take his call.

Why cant he charge a million bucks for it? He could charge 2 bucks or 2 million if he wanted. He isnt forcing people to buy them.

Why would he respond to your email? You are just another internet ahole. Nothing about the way you have conducted yourself reflects well on you. It is irrelevent whether or not he is either a crook or just incompetent, this is far more about you.

Frank, respect to what you have achieved with your car but based on the email you sent, I wouldn't respond either. My suggested wording was not about kissing ass, it was about demonstrating a certain level of professional respect.

You fail every time to separate your feelings towards Hennesy from actually going to get a view of the car. On second thoughts, it's pointless wasting time on this because you've made up your mind before experiencing the car.

Your car might well be good but never have I come across someone so far up their own arse about their work.

Unfortunately, you conduct yourself in a manner that appears almost infantile.

This thread would now benefit from being locked.
