You can have them in plain black without the 'diamond cut' shiny parts but personally I think they're the tastiest wheels I've seen on a Lotus for a very long time. Make that any car for a very long time.

The wheels look a bit too blingy hot-hatch to me. I think I remember them using similar ones on the show cars. Too much fashion, not enough style. I'm sure there would be other options, though.

Aye they just remind me of some 90's/early 00's Halfords wheels that were about and appeared on a LOT of corsas.

It is the way of the world though, same sort of thing appearing on the 991.

Set of Original OZ Chronos would suit it much better yum

looks good, just cant stand the number '3' or 2 tone red and white detailing, side pods should also be white ... would look a hell of a lot cleaner but that's just me.

Some shots from a few days back with one in Velvet Red side by side with an S2 Exige S as well: http://www.seloc.org/2011/11/exige-v6-and-s2-exige...

Not fantastic lighting, but perhaps a better idea of how production cars will look without the numbers and two-tone details.

There two wheel options on the price list, standard and Diamond Cut. I'd assume those are the Diamond Cut

I agree. Why put that silly no 3 on the road car. The wheels suit the car imo. It gets better every time I look at the pics. I can't wait to see it in the flesh in some other colours.

The new car looks really good next to the S2 Exige. I always thought the old Exige was a great looking car but it looks a bit inadequate now next to the new one. The proportions of the new car work better I think, though of course it getting bigger will be a step in the wrong direction for many folks.

Difficult to tell to what extent it is wider and to what extent it just looks wider - width is not in itself a desirable trait in a car meant to be used on B-roads. As CAR pointed out twenty years ago, in becoming ever wider the supercar genre sacrificed usability as driver's cars for greater Athena poster impact.

if it uses the same windscreen mount/frame as the s2 and mirrors its probably more or less the same 'official' width as the s2 exige. look at the width of the sills along the doors into the side pods relative to the s2 in that car park shot. clams appear to be far wider.

imho an exige should make an elise sitting next to it look frankly positively pathetic. my old s1 exige managed that. in terms of presence this one may even make some low end exotica look a bit limp.

It's 1802mm wide w/o mirrors and 4052mm long.

So, 7.5cm wider (without mirrors) and 25cm longer than an S2 Exige.

Totally agree with that and for me, while I'd swap my S1 Elise for an S1 Exige in a heartbeat, the 4-pot S2 Exige never quite did it for me.

There was a greater contrast in styling between the S1 Elise and Exige and the S2 cars. The S1 Elise is a fairly friendly, cutesy looking thing, so making it look more aggressive had a dramatic effect.

Just back from its very brief appearance at JCT600 this evening. Looks well in the flesh - imagine a late V8 Esprit crossed with a Noble M12 with a good chunk of S2 Exige and you're most of the way there. I'm sure it's wonderful but still not sure I'd want to trade my S1 plus £30k for it. Looking forward to a test drive next year anyway. Judging by its departure it is a very, very quick car...
