I think the AD08s might be better in the wet than the Advan 07s. I feel a lot more confident in it anyway.

Toyo R-1R's are yet another option - if you've got a login on SELOC search for R1R to find various perspectives on them. Not particularly cheap, mind you, and the compound softness that gives them the grip means the wear rate is on the higher end. The tread pattern means they're still useful in the wet smile.

Wooden feel also hints at something amiss somewhere else in the suspension IME - never found anything lacking in the feel dept with Advans in comparison to the other tyres I've tried.

It's all subjective, obviously, though.
It hints at them being hard (which they are). I do like the tyres to feel rubbery - so yes it is subjective, and it is nothing specific to the Elise.

Hard tyres like heat - give them some!

I don't know if anyone has used these over in the UK, but in NZ, the Bridgestone Potenza RE11 would be my pick. It's a shame as my father put some on his car and commented that they were excellent on the one drive he had on them, unfortunately the car was then written off.... I was really looking forward to testing them out!

I run Falken ZE912s on my 205, and am very pleased with them. Not sure how they'd transfer onto an MR car rather than an FF. Although they do share lightness and LOOS.

The Elise has an unusual combination of light weight and fat tyres (especially the rears on 111S, which I think are fatter than standard S1?) and some tyres simply don't work at all and make the car dangerous. Don't just try new ones for the sake of it.

Thread throwback....! yikes

Need new tyres for our S1 Elise.

Some road use (mostly to and from track), but probably looking for a good track biased tyre.

As this thread is 7 years old...what's the current consensus on tyres for our usage?

Thanks in advance..thumbup

Not sure what they are like, Yokohama have got a new (I think) replacement for the A048, the A052. Not sure if available in S1 sizes, they are on some new S3 models though.

So are the Yokohama Advan Nevoa AD08RS worth spending an extra £100 over the Toyo Proxes R1R? That's what I'm facing here in western Canada. It'd be for dry road use only (unless I get caught out), 1500 miles/year. Would hope to get six years out of them!!!

I have to replace my Bridgestone S02s finally. Though they still have 7mm of tread.

Remember when they were the go-to tyre for the S1?

I’ve heard bad things about the AD08RS from many people I trust (AD08R though were fantastic on my S1) so I’d stick with R1Rs if I were you - these were also great on my S1

Damn. My extensive online research (lol) has convinced me to go with the AD08R (I'm not a brilliant driver and the R1Rs can be a bit squidgy, apparently). I can get rears here, but will just have to hope there are fronts available for sale somewhere in the UK in October when I come over for a visit. I'll have to cram the fronts in to my luggage hahaha!!!

To be clear, AD08R are absolutely brilliant, it’s the latest RS variety that are not good.
If you can locate some ‘R’s then get them 👍🏻

Yep, totally get that. Have just found some A052 in 195/50/15... anyone with any opinions on the A052?
