Thread resurrection time....These damn things are still over £20k, 2 years later, 4 years after production ended I think!

Despite that I fancy a 1.6 CR to thrash on a weekend. Anyone fancy selling me a nice blue, yellow or white one?

Of the CR’s currently about one is a dull grey, one is covered in stick-on tat and the red one looks lovely but a couple of £k over my budget.

That's good to hear!

They seem to be either long term keepers or even daily drivers, or they change hands every single year.

Doing research online, over 10% of all the CR's still registered have been offered for sale in the last couple of months. Does that mean I need to jump now, or is my perfect car just about to come up for sale? Tricky!

Hi again .
I resurrected this thread in Nov 2018 , and have spent about 18 months seriously looking for a S2 or S3 .

It was to replace my trusty 28 yr old ,147000 mile MX5 series 1 .

I didn't get to test drive a 1.6 , so cannot comment , but test drove a 2010 Elise R and a 2011 S/C .

The R took my fancy , mainly because I felt that I would ( and would be forced to , in view of its power and torque curves ) have a more involving drive , with less risk to my license .

I haven't picked the car up yet from Bell and Colvill , so time will tell if I have made the right decision .

Many don't like the R because of its peaky delivery , but I think that might actually be its hidden talent ( at least for me )

I hope that ,( after a 2 year deliberation ) I haven't made a mistake .

The car is absolutely standard , with no post-factory changes , but I am getting a 2bular exhaust , and have asked Jim Valentine to make it as loud as possible , starting as low down the rev range as possible ( I don't track my own cars )

Wish me luck when I pick up the car next month .

Very excited .
