Put it this way. If you like your car, and you like driving it, then get the new Yokohama tyres for it.
They are so much better than the P0's that I now understand the importance of tyre choice not only for F1 cars, but also ordinary road cars.
I had several scary moments in the wet on my P0s even driving conservatively. I fitted Yokos before winter and have been confident about driving whatever the weather. Dry grip is superb, I haven't found durability to be a problem (done 8k miles including a track day and LOADS of life left in them) and wet grip is perfect. You get loads of warning when you're pushing too hard and haven't had a single 'moment' even though my driving is speeding up as I get used to the car.
The P0s were designed for heavier cars than the elise, and Lotus themselves admit that they're not great, hence them spending time and money developing the Yokos. The reason for P0s in the first place was that Lotus couldn't afford to develop custom tyres when the Elise was launched.
Best upgrade I've put on the car.

I agree with Bonce. P0's are not ideally suited for the lightweight of the Elise and consequently, IMHO, don't give you that reassuring feel with hammering around.
I changed to Yokohama A038R's as soon as I had the oppourtunity mainly because from previous experiences I knew they were a better all round performer than the Bridgestones. Even with a tread pattern that is aimed at dry track conditions the A038's provide more feedback to me and the slides are more controllable!

Wheel arch fouling with the S160 type wheels depends on clam placement. I had mine repositioned, because I could see quite clearly that there was 5cm clearance on one side, and only 1cm on the other side. Oh and I'm running with LSS.
As for the advans, it's a superb general road use and trackday tyre and represent a significant upgrade over the P0's (obviously the A038 is better still in the dry only). For some reason Yoko tyres tend to be a bit greasy to begin with. They need a decent amount of running in before their grip will start to amaze you.
