I believe the unleaden weight of the Elise S1 was 755kg link http://home.t-online.de/home/arno.karwath/techdata_eng.htm according to this website the data was taken from sales broucher and user manuals. However I believe s2 breaks the 800kg with its extras.

I've definately seen various people quoting their elise 1's at 690kg!. Evo quote the new stripped s2 190VHPD at 710kg. We know the shell is heavier on the newer car, so a stripped s1 should be 690kg easily. An s1 on magnesium wheels with no aircon, radio, carpet etc must be lighter still.

Who has the lightest elise variant then?........

That would be Tony Chute with his clear polycarbonate (a-la radio controlled cars) bodywork on his stripped down and lightened 340R. Getting close to 500 kilos IIRC.

So who has the lightest 'proper' elise variant then?

Eh?

The 340r IS a proper Elise variant. If you don't count that then the earliest original S1 is the lightest. Whoever took their roof off and left it at home today has the lightest.

Only joking! Right, who has modified their elise mk1 to loose weight? Other's I've spoken to on other sites have lost loads of mass from the mk1 - mag wheels, carbon clamshells etc...650kg should be possible. Any takers?....

here is some discussion of weights for the standard Elise and the Honda conversion.

I drive one of these, and with 200+ bhp
I don't notice a few extra pounds....

It makes a big difference whether you quote a full tank of petrol or not.

Lightest Elise (shape that is) - is £ 150 K hill climb machine driven by Mark Waldon.
500 kg, 300 BHP, 280lb ft torque, from a 1.4 ltr Turbo'd K series !

Don't ask - the 1.4 must be stronger, ligther ??
The car has a un painted carbon fibre body shell, a seat, a steering wheel and not much else !!

Get this 0-60 in 2.63 seconds !! if you can believe what you read these days ?
600 BHP per tonne !
Ferrari F50 is 420 BHP per tonne !
Waldon competed is some hill climb events in the UK but last I heard he'd stacked it after falling off a corner at speed !

Dear Santa........................

PS - if anyone needs proof of these amazing facts, sent me your address and I send the scan of the mag it's in.
