Thanks very much for the compliments! I am very pleased with it.

Was very tempted to do the liner on the lights but decided against it.

Think I will probably do carbon access panel / forged wheels then aesthetically will be happy.

........okay maybe a bigger wing ......;)

I am facing the same question at the moment, I am considering a 2016 GT4 or a new 350 Sport. The ultimate choice would be an Exige 410 but it is out of my budget. I had tried my mate's GT4 and another Exige S V6 for a few corners, immediately from the start the Exige pulls much stronger than the GT4. It's really difficult to choose, the good point to me is that the GT4 is more versatile easier to get in and out, while the Exige would probably purely be a weekend car. However, the power delivery is so tempting.

Whilst on the face of it the Exige seems like a bargain, the truth is it’s cheaper for a reason.

What about a 996 GT3?

But they are the same price new - both mid £60k’s, just Porsche say there aren’t that many to inflate the price second hand so you pay a premium ala gt3 and gt3rs cars.

For me the exige won hands down, have a look at a few broken gt4’s on YouTube!

In truth they are very close, on track days there isn’t much between either of them. Depends which brand you feel best reflects your personality.

My Porsche ownership was hateful with most ppl being an arse, lotus has been the total opposite, all ages want to talk about the car, everyone let’s you out at junctions, it’s very surreal.

No right or wrong, just what’s best for you.

I responded to one of the earlier posts as a former owner of both cars, so I'll add a bit more again, if helpful. I don't agree that in actuality the Exige pulls much more strongly than the GT4. The GT4 has the feeling of being more linear and composed because of the longer gearing, the damping, the steering and the fact you're not as low to the ground as the Exige, which is more of an assault on the senses. In a straight line they will actually be quite similar. You will just be revving the GT4 to extract the performance whereas you can ride the wave of torque with the Exige and it's still a very quick car. That's not to say the GT4 completely lacks torque, it's just the relative lack of mass in the Exige makes it feel effortlessly fast at moderate throttle openings.

The GT4 is everyday usable in a way that the Exige would struggle to be IMHO. I put this down to it being just a more relaxing place to be when you are not "on it". Part of your decision might come down to your intended usage, as suggested earlier.

I moved on from both cars and now have a 996.2 GT3. I think the GT4 and GT3 look similar on paper (price, power etc.) but they could not be more different in how they go about their business. Anybody who used to daily a 996.2 GT3 back in the day I salute you! I would much rather daily an Exige than a 996.2 GT3. it's a seriously firm car with no traction or stability control and you must remember we are talking about a car that's now well over 15 years old.. It wins in other areas though (engine, steering feel).
