New arrival. Exige 410 Sport
Discussion
Had one of Jim Valentine's QP systems fitted yesterday. I'll miss the noise of the OEM 410 exhaust but this is the only way we'll get on track without strangling the output. It's a lovely item with proper welds and shiny bits lol. I even found an unexpected marking on the chassis when I was inspecting the new pipework.

fking lovely car.
Are the 410s actually making this power? I recall some of the original 350 versions were falling short, perhaps due to heat soak because of no charge air cooling?
Yeah, making the numbers or more. The new charge cooled engines are not prone to heat soak and are being dyno'd at stock or healthier. Are the 410s actually making this power? I recall some of the original 350 versions were falling short, perhaps due to heat soak because of no charge air cooling?

so thats going to be a rare 410 build on a 380 or do more 410 and 430 have the 380 base
No idea. I was told that they didn't sell many Cup380 cars so I assume they had excess stock to build on. Much of the car is the same so I'd guess they just bang in the new engine, different suspension setup and that's it. There's another owner I know of who found the same stamp on his 410 so I'm not alone.GTRene said:
as a extra you can turn them away from the microphone db testers on a track, if those stand only on 1 side of a track.
I'm hoping not the need them as the QP exhaust is pretty quiet already. It'll only be for Thruxton and maybe Goodwood that I'll need to carry them as a backup.gareth h said:
I believe that Maidstone Sports Cars are coming up with a similar solution for the standard exhaust, I’m in the same boat, don’t want to lose the “sound of thunder” but want to be track day compliant.
Yeah, I was looking at the Maidstone solution but gave up asking. I'm not sure it'll get you through many off the major noise restrictions though. Might be ok for 105 days but that's it, we'll see what comes of it.Rocketreid said:
A 430 Cup will be in region of 105db static and 107 on most driveby.
I managed to get onto Goodwoods 105db day on a Lotus day with some difficulty but it is virtually impossible to get through a static test.
Donington and Silverstone both operate driveby and you can get on track but you have to short-shift past the 2 main noise meters to avoid a black flag
It’s not ideal and unfortunately in order to get the drama/sound of the Titanium exaust you have to live with it.
There is no fix unless you are prepared to have 2 exhausts and switch your exhaust system for road and track
Which is what I'll do. It's a pain, but it will allow me to get the car on track and use all the power without holding off for meters. My stock exhaust will go back on in October and I'll keep it stock for Spa in November and then through the winter before the 2020 season starts. The pioneer system in my original 410 was very frustrating to use. The big circular dial doesn't cope well with adjustments while driving and generally it's a bit pants. The remote does help with avoiding that sensitivity but in reality none of it is easy on the move.
The Sony in my current one is more basic but easier to use. Radio 2 is a new fine. I miss dab but it'll do.
