Off to the Ring with Fraser on Saturday so did a bit of prep. Nice to see the geo doing a good job of keeping the tyre wear even. Also, one thing I've noticed with the stud kit is that you have to clean the threads regularly due to oxidation.

They're really cool watches, if a little fragile. We bought a couple in at work which also included a Pluto, so like you can rock the red and white. Are you planning to collect the full set?

Not planning on collecting the set, but I did get Venus for my wife and Earth for a friend. Got them in the Philippines actually and they were a little cheaper out there (although limited to one watch per customer-ish).

Might look at the Blancpain X Swatch now! Anyway, as you were, back to Exiges!

So, what's going on now then? In brief, last month was spent fighting with clam brackets, pulling off trim and finding my car has the T45 roll hoop, more fighting with brackets, buying miniature tools to assist and sourcing a Lotus A-frame harness bar.

This month..... Silverstone GP and Spa with Lotus On Track smile

Hello again smile

We're coming to the end of the season now and I've most likely done my last meaningful journey and event in the Exige for 2023. It's been a cracking year though, and a very good November to finish it on.

Earlier in the month we were at Silverstone with Lotus on Track. It was a wet and windy start, and a bit cold, but the forecast was for it to dry out a bit by lunch before more rain in the afternoon. I hedged my bets and fitted the stock Cup2 hoping for a bit of slidey fun for a warm up and maybe some dry laps later. That's exactly how it went down.

The first couple of sessions were indeed a bit wet but we had a great time learning the wet line and generally sending it everywhere we could. It's amazing how much grip you can find at Silverstone when wet, even on Cup2s. As it dried out we were able to press on a bit, myself and one of the Cup430 guys more so than the rest of the field lol. Here's 10 minutes of us blasting around as it started to dry out.

https://youtu.be/k8kYoJ-pJ1E?si=gmXeuw9IGlwhJakY

After lunch we did manage a fairly dry session. It was busy for about 7 or 8 laps, but right at the point where my fuel light came on it looked like I had a clear run. Stupidly I risked a full send lap on low fuel and got caught out. What would have been a good 2m25s pb ended with limp mode being activated as I made my way onto the Wellington Straight. Gutted!

Here's the 4/5ths quick lap..... https://youtu.be/LCFet9h-m18?si=pul6jAr21U-D_D6A

The rain then came back so it was time to go home, with unfinished business for next time.

Another Euro trip was planned for 2 days later so the next period was spent watching the weather forecast. Choosing a tyre for a 1600 mile round trip that included TF at the Ring and a full day at Spa with LoT was a toss up between the well tested Cup2 and my new delivery of PS5. Luckily the weather looked positively wet so the PS5 went on and away we went early on Sunday morning. I also fitted a fresh set of pads.

We got to the Ring for lunchtime, on the last day of the TF season. It was dry and therefore very busy.

Between a lot of yellow flags we managed 3 laps without incident. The dry weather and the lure of "one last run" brought a lot of burks out but by keeping a decent pace managed to avoid anything too chaotic.

With that in the bag the following day we made a slow move to Spa. The trackday was on the Tuesday so took the Monday afternoon to walk around the circuit and take in the sights. It's such a lovely site to spend time in. Very relaxed and in beautiful surroundings.

Sightseeing complete it was time to prep and rest ready for what was forecast to be a very wet Tuesday on track. And wet it was smile

This is how wet it was..... https://youtu.be/jVtHu51iMMI?si=0Bu2vlSbA859UO5I

It didn't hammer down all day to be fair, but it was wet on track for nearly all of it. The rain came back heavy at around 3pm so nobody saw much of a dry line that day. So, what of the PS5s? OMG, they're brilliant. At SPA they were a game changer. Nobody got near me all day, there was so much grip where others found none.

We did 65 laps that day and 4 tanks of fuel. I literally filled up, went out and only came back in when the fuel light came on. Hand on heart the best trackday I've done smile

Here's 20 minutes of the last session I got on camera. Unfortunately I filled my sd card by mid morning. I was just having too much fun smile

Anyway, it's getting late so will finish this off another. To summarise though, go to Spa in the rain with LoT. Its the most fun you'll have with your clothes on.

The drive back that night took us through Storm Debi as it made its way across Western Europe. I gotta be honest, had I seen the forecast I'd probably have hung on until the following day. In spite the rain and wind the car was sound. The PS5s proving their worth more than the crappy Lotus headlights.

After a 1600 mile round trip it was time for a proper clean. It's amazing how much more dirty it gets on a wet track, especially the wheels.

Ready for the next adventure. But first, an MOT and fit the new harness bar.

Thanks I definitely want to try ps5’s when my cup 2’s wear out. Considering I don’t do track days I think it will be the best option.

How is the stretch on the 10 inch rim.
it doesn't look too bad in the pictures

Absolutely fine. You'd not notice unless you'd seen the 285s on the other rims.

So, T45 harness bar fitting: completed!!

I had to buy a couple of tools / adapters to finish it off properly but all in it was a very easy job. I even managed to do it having removed only the passenger seat smile

Any questions just ask.....
