I'm getting a distinct vibration & boom from the engine (Std. 118bhp Elise I) between 3,300 & 3,700 rpm. Most pronounced in higher gears and more so with the top on, but always present. Less obvious decelerating than when accelerating. Engine sweet otherwise - smooth up top and even idle.

I'm a newby (Eliser 2 weeks). If anyone has encountered similar and better still, diagnosed the source, please let me know?

No need to follow up - just went back to June 14th and a few of you report similar problems with either the undertray or floor under the seats.

Chadwicke - I'd be curious to know what your dealer found...

Undertray or floor probably.

The floor behind the seats often resonates at that rev range, try jamming something between the seat runner and the floor and see if it goes away, a simple test is to get it making the noise and feel the floor just behind the driver seat in the centre of the car, you should be able to stop the noise by pressing on the floor.

The handbrake cable can also do this, it rests on the forward undertray (not the diffuser section) and can resonate in the same way, fix it with some sticky foam as it's relatively cool at that part of the undertray.

I get a vibration and Bell & Colvil mentioned it might be the boot hinge bolts being a bit loose. They offered to tighten it for a price... I thought i would have a look myself first but still haven't.
