BRAKES FOR MK2 ELISE

Have heard from a view people that the standard elise's brakes are a bit weak, is this true, has any one conducted any disc, pad upgrades on the front?

I personally find them perfectly acceptable on my S2, but still..

There are no replacement discs yet (these are different from the S1, so those won't fit), but you can install different pads like for instance a set of Pagid RS4-2's (pads are the same as the S1) for more brake 'bite'.

Installing braided brake hoses is probably one of the best upgrades though...

I've found them a bit scary on my S2.

Based on some info I read on the web I did a few consecutive 60-20 mph tests after the car was run in and that has really helped with pedal feel. It seems I ran them in too gently!

Overall though the brakes on the S2 are a step backwards from the S1 (at least Vs my '97 model which had the MMC brakes).

Pagid RS4-2 pads, braided hoses, abuse . . .

The stock S2 pads seem to be fairly cr*p, the pagids wil improve feel and bite no end and improve consistency no end. The braided hoses will improve feel. There is little benefit (apart from cosmetic) in changing the disks . . .
As has been mentioned, a little abuse also helps a lot, excessive low effort braking results in poor performance . . .
