Hi all,

Just got back into a Lotus after an 8 year gap. 69 plate 220 SC sport. Love it but unsure how long I can cope without better quality music and a bit of bass. I have the Clarion head unit in and front speakers. The rear speaker holes are there, covered with a black circular disc with 4 screws. Does anyone know if the speaker wiring is already there as standard? I've had the cover off behibd the driver's side and could feel wires down there but didn't want to pull too hard and break something. It may be there, just trapped? Has anyone installed rear speakers to a 2019 SC 220 sport? Were the wires there?

Mine were cable tied to the rest of the wires, had to take the seats and rear trim piece out to snip the cable ties and pull the wires up. I also didnt have the rear blanking plates so had to take the Dremel to the rear trim and cut the holes. Added some focal speakers, night and day better imo.

I also added a pioneer ts-wx010a sub in the footwell and its half decent at town speeds now.

Yup wires will be there around the seatbelt reel somewhere.

I use focal speakers without a Sub and can listen to the alpine unit quite nicely with the roof off (and the volume at 30 biggrin )

That's great. I can feel thin cables around the drivers side rear seat belt area, but daren't just pull at it. I might have another go. Were yours cable tied up to the loom at all, just hanging loose or trapped?

I just stuck my hand through the hole to find them. Cut my hand and wrist to bits but that was all that was needed.

Job done. Drivers seat pulled forwards, passenger seats out with allen keys and extension bars. Seat belts off, moulded plastic panel behind the seats out and speaker wires eventually found. They were cable tied tightly to the loom, tucked in near the seat belt retraction mechanism. Driver's side was particularly hard to get to in order to snip the cable tie, but doable with care. I just went for whatever speakers I could get my hands on in Halfords today (as I couldn't wait!) some middle of the range priced Pioneer 13cm coaxials. Can't believe how little choice there is these days in terms of audio in car shops! Twenty years ago there'd have been a dozen different subs, amps, loads of speakers to choose from. Nowadays almost nothing, despite visiting three different motoring shops. However, the difference in sound and bass with the new speakers is amazing. Unbelievably so, which shows you don't have to spend a fortune.
