Hi all. Here are some more thoughts from the first days of ownership in elise land

Sat we went to the motorshow. My GF woke up all excited about driving it there, went in the car put the sit as far forward as possible and... Could reach the bloody pedals!!! She said that I was doing it on purpose because I don't want to drive it ) She was quite upset. She is 5'2 and we found it quite strange. She could just about tiptoe the clutch. Any recomendations and ideas? She below about lotus' recommendation.

The drive to the motorshow was FANTASTIC both small backroads and motorway. I m getting used to the gearbox and the size now so it's getting more and more enjoyable!!

We joined the official lotus club (quite a bit of to our insurance from esteem. Definately recomend it!) And asked them about what they suggest about reaching the pedals. They said that you can buy a seat "cover" that goes over the normal seat and brings you forward a bit. We ll try that.

On the way back, shock and horror!!! We found a little leak on the passenger door!!! Water comes in from between the mirror and the windscreen. We sorted out with a few towels and a bin bag )

Any ideas how we can sort out small leaks with the door seals?

The drive back was quite horrible! It was raining like mad and the visibility was worse than poor!!! We aquaplanned our way back the motorways! )

One more question. How do you lock the doors from the inside of the car? I know it sounds strange but I m either stupid or you can't do it!!! I find it strange...

Still happy with the car and its small nigles. Happier actually since I m getting more used to it!!! Highly impressed with the ride and the handling!

Thanks about all your comments

Shouldn't this be second impressions? This sounds like one of those infernal Hollywood movie sequels.....

Edited to make sense

Buy a pillow (the corbeau seat cushion inserts i think) for the GF (refer to the lotusbbs on british-cars.co.uk and search the threads/archives regarding stumpy GF's..)

also they all leak.. there ain't such thing as a leakproof elise. Unless you spend a huge amount of time adjusting window tilt/height and putting the roof on EXACTLY right, you will get the occasional drip..so like the rest of us, carry a teatowel..

these are all minor issues considering the zen-like driving abilities of the car

enjoy..

Great to hear about your early impressions.
Makes my wait for an S1 (trying to get a house sorted out first) all the more agonising!!!

You get in, wind the window down, lean out, lock the door with the key and then wind the window up again...

Isn't this rather dangerous since you have now trapped yourself inside your own vehicle with no quick way to get out?!!

What if you now placed the key in the ignition and it got stuck there? You'd have to squeeze yourself out the window toothpaste stylee!

I think that the interior handles will unlock a door that has been locked from the outside.

Door locks - the only area in which a 1987 MR2 is superior to an Elise (apart from power )

The door issue is simple - dont unlock it ! when you are getting in turn the key to unlock, when door is open turn it back, then get in the car. You can open the door from the inside (no deadlocks on Elise) as normal, but the doors are locked from outside...personally I drive in cities a lot and never have the doors unlocked from the outside
